A Lot like Love...a li'l like chocolate (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.133

A Lot Like Love...A Li’l Like Chocolate by Sumrit Shahi is a love story based in the modern world, where the author questions the possibility of the survival of love in today’s world of ambition, and changing values.

Summary Of The Book

A Lot Like Love...A Li’l Like Chocolate is a story of two teenagers, Arnika and Shadab. It is a seemingly rosy love story, which, in this tech savvy age, blossoms with the help of Facebook and Blackberry. The relationship starts when they are both very young, in the 12th standard. But soon, this young relationship gets stronger, and both are committed to each other. Then comes the twist, a point in their lives where their relationship may not survive the test of time. Both have to fly off to different universities and countries to pursue their career and ambitions. Arnika wishes to pursue her education and career in New York, and Shadab wishes to go to Delhi for his education.

Both decide to pursue their dreams and continue their relationship. The lovers promise to be together, despite the distance between them, and they plan out what seems to be an easy to handle long distance relationship. They are determined to make this long distance relationship work. There are plans, and promises, promises of love and fidelity, plans to keep in touch through Skype, even a list of do’s and dont’s. But, will this work?

The lovers are determined, but can love be planned so well and so easily? Initially everything seems perfect, just as per the plan. But, gradually, the distance starts affecting the young lovers, and their relationship. There are doubts, suspicions, misunderstandings, arguments and fights. What seemed to be a perfect plan seems to be losing its efficacy. Questions appear on the truth of the relationship. Is it love, or is it not? Will it work or will it not?

Will this relationship be able to stand the test of time? Does distance make the heart grow fonder? Or does it make lovers grow apart? Can Arnika and Shadab put up with the pressures of a long-distance relationship? Will they be able to keep their promises of love and fidelity?
Sumrit Shahi explores if love can manage to survive in today’s times of ambitions, distractions, and changing moral values. A Lot Like Love...A li’l like chocolate is a story for the young readers.

Refreshing Humour

Sumrit has done a great job with his second book. I couldn't put it down once I started, and read through the night. The main characters Shadab and Arnika, as well as suporting characters are very sharply defined.

The story is involving- you will almost feel like you are part of the story as you read it.

Chirping like they???ve decided to go for a mammoth gang-bang!
???It???s raining and I feel lonely. I miss you.???
Is what Shadab???s updates as his facebook status as he sits by the window, stretched legs, laptop heating his crotch and the wind spraying a few raindrops on his face.

*************************************

And that???s how you know the relationship is going strong...

* When they both change their cellular talk plans, buy hands free to relax their heated ears from all the marathon conversations and Skype when it???s getting too expensive.

* When their facebook profiles say, in a relationship with, and every picture of them when uploaded, gets the ???Awww???s,??? and ???so cute,??? and ???touch wood??? comments and random likes.

* When she accompanies him for his haircut. And worse, he has to accompany her for her shopping trips.

* When he texs her without reason and calls her at 4 a.m. just to hear her voice.

* When they reach class late and his shirt is askew and her hair unsettled.

* When he waits outside the changing room, holding her bag as she tries a dozen dresses.

* When they both know all the passwords to each other???s e-mail id???s, social networking accounts.

Waste of time and money.....

The writing is too mediocre......

The story is nothing like Love but a lot of crap. Certain group of young generation may like it ifatall they have never been introduced to "Good writing".
