A Lot like Love...a li'l like chocolate (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs. 89

A Lot Like Love...A Li’l Like Chocolate by Sumrit Shahi is a love story based in the modern world, where the author questions the possibility of the survival of love in today’s world of ambition, and changing values.

Summary Of The Book

A Lot Like Love...A Li’l Like Chocolate is a story of two teenagers, Arnika and Shadab. It is a seemingly rosy love story, which, in this tech savvy age, blossoms with the help of Facebook and Blackberry. The relationship starts when they are both very young, in the 12th standard. But soon, this young relationship gets stronger, and both are committed to each other. Then comes the twist, a point in their lives where their relationship may not survive the test of time. Both have to fly off to different universities and countries to pursue their career and ambitions. Arnika wishes to pursue her education and career in New York, and Shadab wishes to go to Delhi for his education.

Both decide to pursue their dreams and continue their relationship. The lovers promise to be together, despite the distance between them, and they plan out what seems to be an easy to handle long distance relationship. They are determined to make this long distance relationship work. There are plans, and promises, promises of love and fidelity, plans to keep in touch through Skype, even a list of do’s and dont’s. But, will this work?

The lovers are determined, but can love be planned so well and so easily? Initially everything seems perfect, just as per the plan. But, gradually, the distance starts affecting the young lovers, and their relationship. There are doubts, suspicions, misunderstandings, arguments and fights. What seemed to be a perfect plan seems to be losing its efficacy. Questions appear on the truth of the relationship. Is it love, or is it not? Will it work or will it not?

Will this relationship be able to stand the test of time? Does distance make the heart grow fonder? Or does it make lovers grow apart? Can Arnika and Shadab put up with the pressures of a long-distance relationship? Will they be able to keep their promises of love and fidelity?
Sumrit Shahi explores if love can manage to survive in today’s times of ambitions, distractions, and changing moral values. A Lot Like Love...A li’l like chocolate is a story for the young readers.

SUMRIT SHAHI: Hardly an author, as he proclaims. Sumrit Shahi, at 18, is as confused as before, but just more sophisticated about it.

His debut novel at the age of 17, Just Friends, is a national bestseller and sold over 25,000 copies. With a killer ability to play with words, which he isn’t remotely humble about, writing for him is a passion which pays surprisingly well. A resident of Chandigarh, alumnus of St. John’s High School and Bhavan Vidyalaya, he is currently pursuing his first year at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts, Pune.

nice work

Excellent writting. Need to improve the story line in your future. The way the story goes is nice but, continuing in the same feeling makes little bit uncomfortable.

Refreshing Humour

Sumrit has done a great job with his second book. I couldn't put it down once I started, and read through the night. The main characters Shadab and Arnika, as well as suporting characters are very sharply defined.

The story is involving- you will almost feel like you are part of the story as you read it.

EXCERPTS:

So...love...eh??

Love. A pristine feeling. It’s the freshness of morning dew – fragile yet beautiful. It’s like an iPod with your favourite playlist on repeat mode. It’s like a painter’s first stroke – vulnerable, unsure yet intense. It is the uncertainty of the Indian monsoon. It is like the thrill of having a burf ka gola on a chilly December night. It is as unpredictable as the stock market. It is as dependable as your LIC life insurance. It is as sweet and crooked as a deep-fried jalebi. It is noisier than the Delhi traffic, quieter than the sea at night. It is more demanding t

And there’s water...from the clouds...from the eyes...
26th September 2010
Rain. The soft showers, the cold breeze, the tingling music of the droplets. The failure of the drainage system. The roads leaking, puking like they’ve had neat Vodka and forgotten the lemons. The colourful umbrellas. The heads which collide behind them. Rain. The car mirrors which get fogged simply by mere verbal interactions. The clothes deciding to commit themselves to the body. The B looking like a D. The hands squeezing everything that’s round. Rain. The couples everywhere. Hand in hand. Arm in arm. That in that. T

Sweet Love story with Strange ending.

I started reading this book with a idea that this would be a love story of best friends and as per my expectations it was a sweet love story of two good friends but ending of story was not as expected and could have been something interesting.
I liked the way Writer has used Technologies to express the love.
Love stories are expected with a happy ending or something unexpected.
This is a good story to read who have just understood the meaning of love.

Choclaty!!

Its simple yet a stylish love story with a nice finishing touch. What author has tried to show is what is really happening in a long distance relationship.
Matured yet a childish touch.
I loved it!! :)

Fantastic!!

One of the books which has left me blank after reading. Not because of the story, but because of the life of the characters that has been described. It seems to be just a story... but it is more than that.

Great work.

Exactly Like Chocolate !

Either you have to like this book a lot.. Or hate it a lot I guess!
Every chapter is like a blog post. Really well done.
Humorously written, Very senti at times, too much of the love, love and love stuff.
Good in parts. Slightly over done overall. One time read.
Flipkart never ceases to amaze me with their delivery routine. Perfect as usual ! :-)
