Love's Promise

As grade school buddies, Ken and Joanne romped the play ground together enjoying their carefree world. Being with Joanne made Ken feel so at home. His mother died giving birth and his alcoholic father always blamed him for the tragedy. Joanne's well-to-do life was so idyllic and simple, until her father abruptly left her mother for another woman. Turned upside down by her father's betrayal, she abruptly ended her friendship with Ken. Lonely in his adolescent years, Ken turns to music and discovers an old hymnal in the piano bench. Within the pages he reads of the Lord's sacrifice and discovers the depths of God's love, even for a social outcast. When Ken and Joanne begin attending the same high school he longs for their relationship to be reunited, but her popularity keeps their worlds apart. What will happen when their lives touch again? Will she continue wanting popularity over a poor outcast's friendship or will she recognize his faithful love for her? Ken's love for Joanne draws a parallel to how Jesus patiently loves, forgives, and woos unbelievers unto Himself.
