The protagonists are Jack, who is eight years old and his little sister, seven year old Annie. The siblings stumble upon an enchanted tree in the woods as they explore and play during their summer vacations. Unbeknownst to them, the tree house is magical along with its precious books.

Upon discovering their treasure, the children explore their find. Jack finds a book on dinosaurs called the Time of the Dinosaurs, and immediately wishes aloud if he could see them in reality. The children are magically transported to prehistoric times and encounter Pteranodons, Triceratops and even the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex. Jack and Annie now have to navigate this mysterious world by making friends with friendly dinosaurs and staying away from the dangerous ones and somehow find a way back home.
