The present publication attempts to profile in good detail the constitutions of the four countries, namely the U.K., U.S.A., Switzerland and China. The analyses are of great relevance as the diversity of political vision in reflected in the fact that while the U.S.A. and U.K. has a two party system, whereas China has only one party. Switzerland is unique because it has been a neutral coutnry in times of war. The book presents details of federalism, and all the arms of the constitutional system namely, the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary. While all aspects of the working of the constitution, interpretation of various clauses thereof from time to time and amendments have been dealt with in necessary contexts, the book also includes such vital discussions as Direct Democracy in Switzerland, its Cantonal governments, and other local units of administration and the new 1998 constitution of that country.

Srinibas Pathi has a doctorate in Political Science from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar and has specialised in Public Administration and Distance Education. He has been on the senior faculty in the Department of Political Science in a degree college affiliated to Utkal University. Amareswar Msihra has a masters degree in Political Science from Utkal Univeraity and also obtained his doctorate from the same. He has travelled widely and has several books and research publications to his credit.
