Management Education: The Environmental Dimensions

Management education is not just about commercial enterprises. It is about the society also in which the enterprises exist. With population growing and energy requirements rising, environmental imperatives get crucial. The real issue is meeting the energy needs while balancing the environmental qualities. Considering this, the Department of Management Studies of Indian School of Mines University (ISMU), Dhanbad, organised a two-day national seminar on “Energy & Environment—New Age Management Education Dimensions” on 2nd and 3rd November, 2007. A total of forty six scholars presented their views on reshaping the management education to create eco-conscious managers having the readiness to address the critical energy-environment relation urgently. This book is a culmination of different schools of thought related with the criticalities of energy – environment seesaw. As a collection of edited articles, this book is a careful and serious endeavour resulting from deliberations that followed. The book has been divided into five sections, underscoring the different concerns relating to the basic issue. These five sections are: I. Environmental Orientation of Management Education II. Environmental Accounting and Corporate Performance III. Application of Technology in Environmental Management IV. Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management V. Miscellaneous Most of the articles in the book are environment oriented and would prove to be a source of additional knowledge for the researchers, academicians and students.
