BeautifulI've always found reading history very tiresome. Even in school I had the same opinion. So when I picked up this book at the local library, I did it more out of lack of alternatives rather than any particular interest. That changed very soon however, as I found myself stooping over its pages, awed by their meticulous detailing. This is a great way of understanding history. Maps are so easy to read and understand. Definitely better than some boring prose accounting historical events in a sombre manner. I highly recommend this book !

EerieIt was really strange for me, the experience of reading this book. I had always loved history in school and was good at it too. I'd read the history of the Indian subcontinent zealously and thought I knew a fair bit on the matter. But this book seemed to present that story in such a way that it all seemed new. InformativeI was intrigued by the title of the book when i came across the the book in a bookstore. When observed through the historical and geographical lens of the nation, the book provides an account of all the important events during the establishment of the nation. The writer has wrestled to come to terms with the complexity that was involved in the formation of the nation, and how the different political states came into existence. A unique book that enables an insight into the nation's history. An interesting read to all enthusiasts in history.

GreatThis book is one helluva ride….we all have some rough idea of the history of our country and surrounding regions and this book tells that same story….but in such a unique way that you’d almost feel as if you haven’t read this story. But you have….in the history books in school…..Imagine having a satellite view of all the events that happened in the Indian Subcontinent in the past 500 years. This book brings together…it seems….all the maps that have ever been made of the Indian subcontinent and tells its tale in a highly amusing and visually alluring manner. The price is on the steeper side….bu… (Expand)
