This is the third and final book in the Domain or Mayan Trilogy by Steve Alten.
Summary Of The Book
This book concerns the story of the main protagonist, Julius Gabriel. He had studied the ancient Mayan prophecy about the end of humanity on December 2012.
He believes the ancient prophecy to be absolutely true, and he also believes the sites of the amazing ancient buildings are keys to a puzzle, that, if solved, could help save humanity. But, he is ridiculed by his colleagues and dies before he could solve the puzzle.
It is left to his his son, Michael Gabriel, to piece together the puzzle. But he is incarcerated in a mental asylum for having attacked the man who destroyed his father. He manages to get the help of a young psychiatry intern, and escapes. He saves humanity from destruction, but in doing so, he disappears off the face of the Earth.
Michael's two sons, the predicted saviors of humanity are born. On the same day, another child is born, a girl, Lilith. The three children are all born with similar mysterious powers. While the brothers tread the path of light, the girl, with an abused childhood, turns towards darkness. While Jacob follows his destiny in the confrontation against evil, his brother does not follow him.
Immanuel does not believe in prophecies, does not believe in destiny, and does not believe in his powers. But, years after his brother has descended into the underworld following his destiny, Immanuel discovers that there is no way he can avoid his own destiny. For, the Earth is under threat again, and this time, it is not just humanity, but the entire planet that is under threat.
And so begins his journey as he meets with all his family members, starting with his dead grandfather, Julius. And as he learns what he must do, he needs all the help he can get, as he is in a race against time, his path guided by a secret that is older than the Big Bang.

So much hype on Mayans prophecy made me buy this copy.. The book starts off brilliantly. Mid-parts goes above one's head. Doomsday- Dec 2012 should have been given the maximum prominence .. aint it what this book is all about. 2047?? defeats the very purpose. The author could have avoided so much jargon. Details on soul mate is confusing. Going to the past to set right things reminds me of the movie "The secret code" Each one to her opinion.
The series have started with Mayan Prophecy which is a nice book and compels the reader to go through the mayan resurrection and Mayan destiny.Which are both good sequels, however u have to force a little to imagine the scenarios the write is trying to present as most the cumulative story in the series is set in future.
If however someone ends up reading the last book of the series first, then obviously it wont make any sense :)
