Meanings into Words is a course in general English, which takes students from intermediate level to the level of the Cambridge First Certificate examination. It is divided into two parts: an Intermediate course and an Upper-Intermediate course. The two parts can either be used as a single continuous course, or separately as two independent courses. The course systematically covers the functional, notional and grammatical areas that are important to students at this level. In each unit, students arc-taught the relationship between structures and meaning and learn how to use structures in a communicative context. The Intermediate course contains 24 units, providing 100-130 classroom hours. This Teacher's Book provides detailed unit-by-unit teaching notes which, for each exercise, give a summary of the language taught, guidance on procedure and answers to some of the exercises. In addition, there are introductory sections which give background to the course and general guidance on how to use it, and there are three appendices (a transcript of the Drills, a guide to the Test answers and a list of the contents of the Student's Book cassette).
