Summary Of The Book
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is an institution that was set up in 1961 to improve the standards of school education in the country. One of the first programs initiated by NCERT was a countrywide academic talent search competition, with a view to award scholarships
The National Talent Search Exam (NTSE), Initially conducted only in Delhi, was later extended nationwide. It was open only to Class 11 students. After the introduction of the 10 + 2 + 3 scheme, this competition was open to students of Classes X, XI, and XII.
From 2006, the exam was held for Class VIII students. But recently there was review of the scheme and from 2012 onwards, the exam is only for Class X students. The total number of scholarships is now 1000, with reservations made for certain sections of the society.
The scholarship is for higher studies in science and social science subjects, up to the level of a Ph.D. The qualifying exam consists of two objective type papers, the first is a Mental Ability Test (MAT), and the second is a Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
This book covers the Mental Abilities Test topics. It covers number series, odd one out (numerical), missing numbers, letter series, coding and decoding, time sequence and direction sequence, directory, ranking, number of figures, mirror images, and water images.
It also covers analogy, odd one out (words), cubes, Venn diagram, relationship, coding of arithmetic signs, non verbal reasoning and logical reasoning.
The book is designed with a sharp focus on the NTSE exam pattern, so it helps the students prepare well for their exam. The questions in the chapters test and reinforce the topics covered. The book includes three mock tests on the NTSE MAT pattern.

A good book for my Daughter entering into Secondary School (Class - VI)
I've purchased it for my daughter to prepare her for NTSE and NSTSE. She has started her practice using this book and finds it quite interesting. The level of questions are good and any student or NTSE aspirant would definitely benefit using this book. At initial level one can go for it. Discounted prices of many books on flipkart is an added attraction.

A great exercise book!
This is a great book for students who are preparing for competitive exams like the National Talent Search Examination.
It features a huge question bank comprising of various types of problems. It even aims to teach us time training.
People giving exams like the MTS, Railway Exam etc. can also refer to this book.
There are a few mistakes in this book and the solution for some really tough problems is not given.
Apart from this, it is great.

Not so gud...
I bought this book for NTSE.... but really telling you the solutions are not proper and also many answers and questions are wrong...the bok is of no use if you have to start from very beginning...better option is book by Disha Experts.....its really good than this.....

It SUCKS! the book is really bad!
I bought this book for NTSE.... but really telling you the solutions are not proper and also many answers and questions are wrong...the bok is of no use if you have to start from very beginning...better option is book by Disha Experts.....its really good than this.....
