Good But Be Careful..!

Finally recieved this tablet from another store since its not avalaible on flipkart yet(as on 16-04-2012)....been using it since a week now and now i guess i can tell u all the flaws basically since other reviews only tell you what already is written on the box or in the specifications,,,,,,,

First of all,the tablet isnt that gr8 to look at,i mean its "OK",nothing too good bout it

Secondly, mine went gaga while typing once, had to do a factory reset and been working alright since then,i hope it doesnt do that again,

Thirdly,web browsing isnt a gr8 experience,its "NICE" though

Fourthly, hardware buttons look like a cheap tablet buttons,,theree was no need to do that,i searched google and saw this tablet sold in open market by some other chinese name so basically what micromax has done is buy a cheap tablet, used the micromax stamp and sold it to us,typically Indian

Fifthly, camera sucks,o man its filthy, skype video call is a shame,i tried calling a buddy with a same tablet and the sound was like barking dogs and video was like green strips, rest u guys can imagine,i felt like smacking the tablet in the wall(yes it does have a inbuilt microphone)

Sixthly,it does make u feel every now and then that its a 6k tablet

NOW THE GOOD THINGS(keeping in mind it costs only 6.5k)
screen brightness is good and the touch itself is very nice
youtube works flawlessly
ebook reading is nice too
gaming is a good experience
applications start w/o lag
i din find the speaker too bad, they are nice,i like hearing some music and its nice to have this tablet around
android 4.0.3 ICS is good interface, just the feel of it is nice

if this is goin to be your first tablet u are gonna love the hell out of it but if u have used nything like samsung or apple or blackberry and u are gonna compare it to them then its gonna be hard for you to justify why u bought far as i am concerned i am giving it a 3 out of 5 stars.....a good tablet but nothing great....useful but not cool but not crazy.....if u cnt afford 25k tablets u should go nowhere else and buy this one straight....

Best Tablet Ever

The original tablet is ployer momo9 which has been re branded as micromax funbook the tablet is excellent and gives a good battery backup for more than 3 hrs. Plays HD videos very well. Those who have problem with skype its not micromax problem it is problem with the skype app with the recent android ICS tablets i dono why people just blindly accuse the brand without even thinking or trying to solve the problem google for the compatible versions and install it and the issue will be solved. Regarding the dongle being only supported of tata photon this is not true exactly i used my own 3g service with aircel sim all you need to do is follow these steps

1. With the given Extension card for connecting the USB port connect your data card.
2. Go to Settings--> Select More--> then Mobile Networks
3. Enable Mobile network and also enable data while roaming.
4. Click on the Mobile networks, in that you can see "TATA" with the dial number #777.
5. Click that, it will go inside that option,
6. Then Scroll to the user name and password section.
7. Select and enter your user name and password of your datacard

I hope my review would have helped many.

PS: Buy products of which you are aware of don't blame the manufactures or the distribution brand for it and for gods sake learn to use GOOGLE before posting unwanted things.

Micromax "Funbook" Tablet

Its An amazing buy at this Price (Rs. 6499), I bought It The day very fast to get a glimpse of The Micromax Tablet After the success of The Superfone Series.
*The Tablet is extra smooth thanks to the 1.22 Ghz A8 Cortex Processor.
*Backstab HD, Asphalt 6 HD, And Nearly All High Graphics games work seamlessly Thanks to the Dual-Mali 400 GPU (Used By Galaxy S2).
*VGA Camera is surprisingly great, seems like a 1MP Atleast according to the Picture Quality, great for Skype, And other Video Chatting Apps.
*ICE CREAM SANDWICH Is simply amazing much better than the Honeycomb, Though Design is pretty Much The same, Adding Additional Widgets Really Improve your Home page.
*1080p Be it AVI, MKV, OR even 3D Movies (Red/Cyan) work Smoothly, The HDMI Port is a Superb Addition for HD TV's.
- Battery Could have Been Better, lasts for 4 Hours on Full Usage, But On Standby Can Last for 10 Hours With Moderate Usage Occasionally.
- 512MB Ram which reduces to 400 On Software Should Have been higher.

internet on funbook

micromax giving a modem of tata photon tablet only support that modem u are not able to use any other modeom and tata photon donot accept any simcard u have to give 500 rs per month for the data of tata tablet didnot support any orther modem in that situation you are only able to use tablet on wi-fi . this ting is not aviable every where . if you are in university where 24 hour wi-fi is working then u purchase this otherwise wastage of money because for a student spending 500 rs per month is not possible and one more thing for taking tata photon you have to pay 500 to tata for activation overall internet using on this tablet is tough job . but you can purchase it if you want to read ebook or want to watch movie or if you have wi-fi then you can purchase it

Great for what you pay... bashers need to use their brain!

Almost all the points are correctly stated by Mr. Chrison Yohannan... I would like to change few or add some information to few of the points...
1) The Tab works with all the 3G dongles ... all those who are talking nonsence have never tried it ... I tried with Idea Netsetter and it worked perfectly fine ... unfortunately people do not understand what type of settings they should do ... and some don't even try but just start bashing!
2) Touch screen is really good compared to price we are paying ... it is really feather touch ... (only problem is when it is charging ... it does not respond properly to touches ... but we are not that in hurry to use it while it is charging)
3) The Tab runs high quality videos seemlessly ... no issue at all.

4) Various graphics intensive games work perfectly fine ... and you will N-joy them ... (its obvious that you cannot expect it to give performance of a gaming machine ... after all you are paying only 6500 ... but still it is really great)
5) 3D rendering is really good ... just use the stock media player's facility and you will be able to see that it produces 3D videos ... it simply converts the video to 3D (you need those glasses surely) ... now in 6500 had you imagined that you would get a Tab that would show you 3D video???
6) Just because it is India(even after importing parts from China) made ... and comes cheap ... from a company which not always had a great background ... but hey ... Apple to failed on many occassions ... so stop burning in jealousy and start appreciating things!
7) I am happy to have this tablet ... my 2.7 year old son loves to draw/paint in applications I have downloaded for him ... I love to read books/pdfs (which is surprisingly pleasant experience ... now it surely a fact that hard core readers need to go for E-ink kindle ... but this is not bad either)
8) There is a problem with the chargers they are providing ... the battery energy requirement is different and charger won't satisfy it ... fortunately I have Intex charger which fits it correctly and I can charge my device properly ... so this is the only negative point I could think of!
9) The stock Android 4.0.3 is not customized heavily ... which is good and also somehow bad ... but ... believe me ... it will not ahve much of an impact on your work or joy ... I was happy to have it!
10) Another negative point is that the system administrator role is not granted for user in Funbook ... which is a risk ... it can get hacked easily ... but those who understand it can download application from market and try to protect ... just make sure you do not store your sensitive information in tablet ... after all it is only for fun!

Go ahead ... and buy it if you want to experience something good in very less amount!

Those who are still cribbing ... think about it ... do you want iPad level of facilities in it by paying only 6500??? ... if you are ready to pay 20K ... I am sure Micromax will provide you with much more than you can imagine even!

Get a life ... stop cribbing ... and experience things!

Thank you very much Micromax for providing me such a good experience without making me pay more!

Poor Product

My brother also bought this tablet from Indiatimes and found the product to be pretty ordinary. It does not function with any dongle. Can not handle skype. Battery hardly lasts 3 hours. Hangs too often. Camera is pretty poor. Sasta Roye baar baar.

Don't Listen To Sceptics...Go For It!

I have seen all the reviews here and available in other places too for this gadget. After giving it a long thought, I decided to buy it.I have been now using this for 3-4 weeks without an flaws in the gadget. Some particular points that I believe you must clarify before buying it :

1. The battery is pathetic ( A real con associated with the tab)
3-4 hours of browsing, and the charge is gone. They should work on it if plan to launch a new version.

2. No bluetooth availability.

3. This device CAN BE USED with other 3g devices except tata photon. You can also use ethernet and connect your home broadband for surfing.

4. Android 4.0.3 is good..nothing exceptional I should say, but feels good while you use it.

5. HD 1080p video runs flawlessly.. this really is a bright side of this tab.

6.So far my music experience with it is good..almost 8-9 hours of non-stop music playing ability, and the speakers are working perfect. FLAC support is a plus on this device.

Finally, remember guys you are buying this because budget and affordability are two words you often have to deal with in your life. To all those critics criticizing this saying it's not worthy, my suggestion is you make friend with apple. Those who are like me, believes to be within a small budget set, go for it.

Best Budget Tab

Quick facts:
• Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3)
• 7 inch capacitive screen, smooth touch (decent, slight visibility issues when viewed at an angle)
• 1.2Ghz processor (Decent performance, HD videos can be played without any sluggishness)
• 512mb RAM
• 4Gb internal memory (it is shown as 2gb phone memory, and 2gb sd card memory)
• VGA resolution front camera, can take pics, videos, and make video call. (clarity is good)
• Wifi support and support for net via TATA photon + dongle
• About 5 hours battery backup when watching videos
• About 3 hours when playing games. (the graphics processor of micromax funtab is pretty good, same as that found in the Galaxy S2)
• Full charging takes about 3-5hrs. (While charging, the touch screen at times doesn’t respond correctly)
• Easy to hold, perfect weight balance.
• Micro sd card, support.
• Mini usb port (they have given an adapter with which you can use normal usb pendrives)
• Support for external keyboard (I have ordered one from outside, and it works fine)
• The default android keyboard is really not user friendly. (Alternative, download “Go Keyboard” from the android market)
• Skype video call - video isn’t clear on the other end. (Few say, its the skype application’s incompatibility with ICS)
• For video calls, Tango(downloaded from android market) works perfectly.

I fell in love with the micromax funtab as soon as I landed my hands on it. Sure, there was the constant accumulation of finger prints, but for a tablet that is priced so low, I wouldn’t mind at all. This is my first tab, and I don’t think I would be need another one, for a very long time. 
