Moral Education

The book ' Moral Education' consists of two chapters. Chapter I deals with the salient features of the Gita and Chapter II concentrates on the relevance of Gita to day-to-day problems. The volume is a compendium of morals from Gita. The significance of Gita is that is contains the essence of the Vedas and Upanishads. One has to realize the fact that Gita exercised far greater influence on the philosophy and culture of the manking than any other scripture in the world. Gita helpes to learn not to complain about life and accept life as it is and as it comes. Gita makes it clear that the soul is eternal and only the body is mortal, which will promote detachement. Gita is an excellent text to promote ideal living based on values. One such value proposed by Lord Krishna is 'Nishkama Karma' )do without expecting result).

Dr. N. Venkataiah was born on 01-07-1940 in Darsi, Prakasam, Dist., A.P., had varied experiences as Asst. Lecture, Asst. Director, Reader, Profesor and Principal in Government colleges, Sri Venkateswara, Mysore and Sri Padmavati Mahila Universities respectively and retired from regular University service in 2001. He could put in 38 years of teaching and 33 years of research experience; published 11 books and 164 research and review articles; member of editorial board 'Encyclopaedia of Indian Education' NCERT, New Delhi: member of ERIC, NCERT, New Delhi for 5 years; Chief Investigator in 4 research projects and author of these research reports; Director of seminars/workshops; successfully supervised 15 doctoral theses and adjudicated 306 Ph.D. theses, life member/member of several professional assocaitions; resource person in several workshop/seminars/orientation/refresher courses; member of several university academic bodies; Dean, Faculty of Education for 13 years and member of syndicate twice: membero f numerous committees/commissions; boards of appointment in many universities and delivered several extension lectures in colleges and universities in India and abroad.
