THE MOSCOW OPTION (English) (Paperback) Price: Rs.681

October, 1969. Moscow. Paul Dark is a broken man. A terrible mistake twenty- four years ago led to him being recruited into Soviet intelligence, but he has paid a heavy price for it. Now locked up in a cell, distrusted even by those he once served, Dark has nothing for company but the ghosts of his past when he is woken in the early hours and taken to a secret location. There, he discovers that the Soviets believe they are about to face a nuclear attack by the West -- and are planning to strike first as a result. Dark realizes at once that the truth of the matter involves the final days of the Second World War, and the final mission he undertook as a loyal British agent.

Now the fate of the entire world rests on the shoulders of one man: a traitor long past his best, who is soon the subject of a massive man-hunt in one of the most repressive regimes in history. Dark needs to make it to a small island in the Baltic before it's too late and the clock is ticking.

The Future is Dark

For once the blurb on the jacket is accurate. Forget Jason Bourne and James Bond. The future is Dark - in other words, Paul Dark is the hero of this trilogy written by Jeremy Duns.

Duns is an excellent writer in that he starts his first book - Free Agent - with Paul Dark shooting the Head of MI6 in the mid 1960s and then being hunted by both MI6 and the KGB. Because Dark is a KGB agent who has to foil a plot to kill the British PM which will be in the interest of the KGB! The second book has Dark very much back in Britain but now on the run from MI6 itself as this time its a rightist plo...

The second book has Dark very much back in Britain but now on the run from MI6 itself as this time its a rightist plot . But the scariest plot of the three is reserved for this book , the third in the Dark trilogy.

American B52s are at their 'Go No-go' area and there is something that looks like a chemical attack on a Baltic coast. Paul Dark now in Russian custody has to prevent the Russians from launching a pre-emptive strike against the British.

To say more is a crime .

The background is researched thoroughly by Duns and there is a complete bibliography at the end of the book. Some might call it a very clever 'faction' but it is not . Some facts are sprinkled into the story but the story is entirely that of Dark and the bad old days of The Cold War which comes alive under Duns's excellent writing.

Go and get the trilogy
