Motorola’s flagship smartphone, the Defy, have come out with their latest offering, the Defy XT. Like the other Motorola Defy before this one, the Motorola Defy XT comes in a bar form. This device is run on the trustworthy Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) OS that is backed up by a 1 GHz processor. The smooth functionality of the apps is ensured by a 512 MB RAM that provides for the diverse apps that can be run on this phone.
The screen on the Defy XT is a 3.7-inch Capacitive Touchscreen display with an FWVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
The primary camera on the Motorola Defy XT is a powerful 5 megapixel device which also possesses video recording capabilities. The camera is endowed with Autofocus, Geo-tagging, Image stabilization and Image Editor features, which along with an LED flash, make for a more than capable camera phone. The Defy XT comes with a secondary front-facing VGA camera that allows the user to make video calls easily.
Design
The Motorola Defy XT has an appealing design with nominally curved edges. It has a slim 11.95 mm thickness which makes it easy to hold in the hand. The device weighs in at 115 g which makes it relatively light in weight. The screen is protected by the strong Corning Gorilla Glass which adds a degree of sturdiness to the device. The phone also comes with a Proximity Sensor which kicks in when the device is held close to the ear. This sensor prevents the user from tapping unwanted buttons while making a call by switching off the display.
Storage and Battery
This Motorola Defy comes with a healthy 1 GB of internal memory. The phone also possesses an expandable memory slot which can amplify the memory by up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. The substantial apps on this device are powered by a 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery which promises to give a talktime of up to 9 hours when used on the 2G network.
Connectivity and Features
The phone promises to keep the user connected under most situations with a wide range of connectivity features. The phone features GPRS and Edge technology to keep the user connected to the internet over the 2G network. For a faster browsing experience on the move, the phone is capable of connecting to the 3G network as well. Additionally, the Defy XT can also connect to the internet through its WiFi function. The user can send and receive files and documents on the phone via the micro USB port or through the Bluetooth functionality. The phone can also be tethered to another device using the WiFi hotspot feature. The phone also has a water resistant and dust resistant feature which adds value to its robustness.
In addition to the above features, the phone comes with assisted-GPS functionality which is used in the Google Maps application. The phone is also an entertainment aide featuring a music player, a video player and an FM radio. Additionally, the phone also features useful apps like Gmail, Google Talk, Youtube and Google search.

Frequently Bought Together With This Mobile
My Defy+ has the same specs except the front cam.
Rather the XT comes with a lower battery life than Defy+.
And Defy+ also has a vast developer support.
I'm already running CyanogenMod 9 with ICS.
It is also 1k cheaper.
Excellent phone with minimal damage guarantee.. But Launch was delayed much beyond anticipated. Price is too high when compared to other phones with similar features.. Also Motorola has confirmed that This phone will remain with Android 2.3 version for the lifetime as there will be no upgrade available for this phone.. Overall Its a nice phone to have inn.. but pricing will be an issue..
I purchased 2 Defy XTs from Flipkart a few days ago. Here is my review :
1.Display is good. The 16 Million TFT is doing its job well. I would give 8/10.
2.Battery Life is also good with the phone lasting for nearly two days with normal usage.( 9/10)
3.The touch response and speed of the UI is excellent(9/10)
4,Build quality,stylish looks and sleek profile (10/10)
5.Call quality is superb (10/10)
6.Camera - I m little disappointed.Quality of the images should have better for a 5 MP cam with Flash. But still ok. (6/10)
7.Audio Loudness and Quality - Its just normal.(8/10)
I m fully satisfied with the performance so far. Its an excellent phone with life proof ruggedness.
Well, i am been using these phone for a week now and i will give you an honest review..
If u think this Defy Xt is better than Defy Plus, then think again..
1 - Biggest Difference between 2 phones is Defy XT uses MotoSwitch UI whereas Defy Plus uses MotoBlur..Now any motorola user can tell u that MotoSwitch is far vfar better than MotoBlur..Infact Motorola uses MotoSwitch in its high-end phones like Atrix, Razr, Droid etc
2 - Defy XT has a secondary camera
3 - Battery life is as good as Defy Plus
4 - It is slim and light in weight as compared to Defy Plus
5- It is also water-resistant, dust-resistant & scratch resistant same as Defy Plus
6 - In Markets, U wud get this Phone by paying only 500Rs more than that of Defy Plus which is worth considering above features
Cons
1 - It doesnt have 2 Gb inbuilt memory as Defy Plus. But it has 320Mb free space for Apps which is enough for me
2 - Camera Quality is Average..
3- Sound Quality is Average
Final Comment:
The big reason why this phone should be bought as compared to Defy Plus is that it has got MotoSwitch which is best & smoother than MotoBlur & it also features secondary camera
I have been using for a week and didnt face any problem
I bought the phone just two days back.
The phone has pretty good form factor that impressed me. Feels good on hand. Good that it has very bright and clear display. It has FM radio.
It has Front cam.
This is supplied with 2GB SD card (expandable to 32 Gb)
The phone supports GSM (the motorola India website says only CDMA) Don't be confused on that.
The call quality is good. Wifi is good..
Sound quality of speakers is only okay, I expected even better... The supplied head set is not in-ear type - A big let down. However, as it has 3.5 mm jack,I use my philips head set with it...
Cons:
There wont' be ICS update mostly
The UI is not soo good. My previous phone was Galaxy I5801 which had better UI but was sluggish. This is pretty fast comparatively, as it has 1 GHz processor speed and 512 Mb ram.
But now at this price there are phones with dual core.
I bought it for 15.3 K from Buy the price website.
Verdict:
The phone has decent specs. If you are looking for a phone around 15K budget and want your phone to stand out rugged, go for it.
GUYS! Motorola is shutting down in India, that's why most phones are out of stock! I suggest ANY brand to go with! even microma...
