Motorola Defy XT Reviews

This was one of my first purchases from Flipkart. This is a good rugged device and has served me well till date. I am fairly satisfied with the performance of the phone. Motorola devices have always been reliable.

As expected, the delivery was on time. But the phone was delivered in poor condition. A dust speck trapped inside the phone's touchscreen glass was a real eye sore. Also, the 8GB memory card which was promised never arrived with the package. I regret not being able to take appropriate action for getting the device replaced from Flipkart in time since I was unwell at the time.

Phone rating: 3.5/5 (Would have appreciated more RAM)
Flipkart delivery time: 4.5/5 (Timely delivery)
Packaging and Handling : 1/5 (poor condition of touch screen glass and 8GB card not provided despite being mentioned in the offer.)

Overall experience: 2.5/5

I trust that Flipkart will improve their services for my future purchases.

GUYS! Motorola is shutting down in India, that's why most phones are out of stock! I suggest ANY brand to go with! even micromax and freaking karbon would be better! DO NOT GO FOR MOTOROLA! HEED MY WORDS!

I bought the phone around 4 to 5 months back.. had some problem with it(Flip kart replaced it for me...so as always Happy to be a Flipkarter)
Now i do agree with some of the reviewers that IF LESS UNALTERED THIS PHONE WORKS WELL.........
but the Fact that when you own an android... the mere thing about owning a Google android device is the availability of nice functional apps and the speed at which the OS upgrades are available...

Currently the phone behaves sluggish few times a day.. sometimes even to disconnect a call and call another person it takes around 30 seconds,,,, but seriously a small phone like a simple basic nokia phone , beats this phone at that.... and that is a serious problem....
And the fact that Motorola is not planning till date to give us upgrades of OS is another issue....
In Fact what they should do is give an OTA root access to people (optional) after their warranty period is over.... so that since the owner is responsible for the phone after warranty is over, he/she can at least enjoy what the Original manufacturer failed to achieve, in spite of being SUCH A BIG COMPANY.....

Be aware of Buying Motorola Product.Buy on your own risk. They are only selling dump product in India. They are not providing service in India.they are winding up their business.I faced lots of problem in motorola service.They are completely denying of service.

This is the best device that i have ever used. If left undisturbed, makin pretty decent calls it's battery may lasts upto a week. It got an awesome camera which works best in good lighting condition. The cam is capable of taking decent macro photos. The camera's flash is not much helpfull. Night mode photography is a nightmare. Overall perfomance of the phone at this price is awesome. Games an apps runs smoothly without any problems. If used roughly battery lasts upto 3-4 days. Video Rec clarity is pretty good. Could capture wide VGA clips. I have washed this phone a couple of times.....Nice phone... love u moto.....

I'M really upsate after taking this phone, Its functions not as per given spec.
01. Its Battery very poor
02. Ram not 512 (many software not work want to restart mobile)
03. Unable to make video call
etc

Friends if u think about that phone pl don't go for this

This is my first touch screen phone, I;m not very good with 'No Buttons' but this came along.
The specs said that its waterproof, scratch resistant etc,
and so I got one, & im lovin it,
For this price or a little more you will definitely get a better , feature rich xperia or samsung.
But this one has that cool feature of being 'cool' , it's sleek and tough , its got all the smart phone feature, (I bought a book on flyte just to read on the phone.. and see how it does)
The touch is very responsive, good battery backup
The camera is not the best but its ok,
This has a front and back camera, good for skype
And you know what? Motorola invented cell phones, everyone else just tagged along.

The defy series could have been a huge success, had they upgraded it to ICS + not given motoblur. MotoBlur, as I can say from my xperience of Defy+ is pretty pathetic and drains a lot of battery. Besides, they provide a bunch of apps that you may or may not ever use and there is no way to remove them. With motoblur, the user available RAM falls down to barely 200 MB. Add Go Launcher, and now you may not have even 100 MB left for APPS. Of Course, if you know how to root your device and install a custom ROM, it could be a great piece of hardware, but unfortunately, I do not know how to do that. With out of the box software, I regret buying my defy+.

Even Google admitted, as per a news on gsmarena, that these devices are not upto their standards and they are just flushing out the 18 months of pipeline of products that came when they purchased Motorola Mobility. Which means that even they agree that buying a product in this duration isn't worthwhile as even they are not interested in supporting it with software updates.

I have been using this device since two month.

Flipkart - well, as always great speedy delivery. A thing that Specifically like about flipkart delivery is that these guys call you before they arrive so that you can avoid unnecessary pain with typical delivery mechanism existing in India.

About Device - To be honest I bought this device because I wanted to use and experiment with all things I have learned in past one year on Android. So my sole reason was to buy Motorola device (as they enjoy huge developers support) and if someone is buying this device for the same reason then pls go for Defy+ and not this device.

for all those who are looking to buy this device for reason other than I have mentioned above, pls consider the following pros, cons

Pros
1. this device does extremely well at what is says...I am very rude user when it comes to using devices, this has survived almost everything.
2. You do not have use any scratch guard or screen guard.
3. Skype with front cam works seamlessly.
4. Battery backup is better than any Samsung device below 18k

Cons
1. Keypad - may be this is common across all touch Android phones, but keypad sucks if you are heavy-chatter or need to type a lot of stuff on phone like me and seems the main reason why you will feel lag. I won't be buying android device for the same reason and may consider BB or Windows.
2. Multi-tasking - (Again, may be common across android devices) I was using E5 before switching to this, trust me I have developed a respect for my previous device and utmost dis-respect for this. it does not have real-multi tasking like Symbian. you can put an app/browser on background but when you'll come back it will reload from where you left.
3. Internal memory and RAM - it does not have surplus internal memory and RAM and you gotta be very conscious while using it. Go for Defy+ which has more internal memory.

Rest all is about this device is good, I've rooted successfully and installed ICS on self developed custom ROM with charm.

If you planning to buy this please go through other choices like Nokia 620(if you are willing to switch to all new gorgeous windows 8) , XOLO X900(if you want to use and experiment with Android)

Motorola has cheated, RAM less than 512 MB, no upgrades to ICS, not dustproof, no proper service/suppport. Worst camera ever. Nokia X2-02 takes better pics. Dont waste your money here, buy something else...
