You will read reviews here of people saying go for Defy instead.
Last time I checked, Defy was not CDMA GSM Dual SIM.
Yes, it is Android 2.1, and I wish it was a higher version. Battery life is okay, need to charge once a day if using the screen a lot during the day to check mails, etc.
But this is the only good smartphone on the market that is both CDMA and GSM dual SIM. If you need such a phone, this is the best option you have. For me it does what it says on the tin, and that's really good enough.
this phone is bullcrap compared to defy. After all how does a smart phone work with 256mb ram and 555mhz processor. And i suggest anyone who's interested in buying this mobile to go for defy leaving this shit
I had used a Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos I589 phone for a couple of months till i lost it a few days back. Then i decided to get this phone as the price had come down by a few thousand rupees as compared to earlier.
I use it on the CDMA network for only making calls so compared to the Galaxy Ace Duos here are my observations:
1. This phone even though it has an older version of Android is faster than the Samsung.
2. The build quality is a lot better and it feels better to hold.
3. The screen clarity and voice clarity is very good and slightly better than the Samsung.
4. The camera is 5 megapixels which is better than Samsung which only has a 3.15 megapixel camera.
5. The one area where the Samsung is better than the Motorola is in battery life. I used to get almost 3 days of usage on a full charge out of the Samsung but the Motorola barely gives me 2 days of usage on a full charge.
So to sum it up in most areas the Motorola Milestone XT800 is an excellent choice especially when taking price into consideration.
Update - Phone dead after 9 months.
Cons first:
Low Battery life (I need to charge it in the evening again when usage is high and using data services).
Poor system config:low processor/ram/internal memory as to what a smartphone really needs. (on rare occasions it hangs, unable to open moderate sized excel sheets from email, says not enough memory)
Android 2.1 and Motorola's pathetic upgrade service. No upgrade expected for this phone.
Speaker phone sound is very low.
In spite of the 5MP rated camera, I was not so impressed with image quality. 720p Video recording is good when there is enough light.
BUT STILL:
THE BEST DUAL SIM (CDMA/GSM) smartphone. Perfect for business users and average users who are not much concerned about system configurations and heavy applications usage.
Screen Resolution and Sound Quality is Excellent.
The only phone to support internet through both the CDMA and GSM sims. I use Tata Indicom CDMA (HSIA connectivity is 3.2 Mbps). Supports 3G on CDMA. For GSM only gprs is supported though.
I bought this Motorola XT800 4 months back. I am using CDMA and GSM sim cards in this set.
As of now I found this piece too good and very fast in using the tools and apps.
Internet is very fast and I am able to use the Corp Mail without any problem. This is realy worth phone for the people who want to use CDMA and GSM facility in one instrument.
Phone is good. Both GSM and CDMA features are fine.
But, I am totally unsatisfied with their after sell services....
Pros :-
1. Good Screen (3.7") , Very Responsive,
2. OK Camera(great for the price).
3. Android (Even tho...
