XT5 Android

Hello,
I just bought this phone online on flipkart. I must say that their service is super cool! I have had lot of bad experience with ebay India and Indiatimes shopping earlier but all went well with flipkart. I'm happy :-)

Quench/Zeppeline XT5 is definitely value for money. Everything is about the phone is great but there are some issues that I would like to point out. Note that these issues are NOT XT5 issues but depend on the OS - Android in this case.

For example, my Nokia E61i and HTC touch have always worked with Vodafone live (not mobile connect). You'll be able to browse using Vodafone live on Android but other apps like roadsync, native e-mail client, google talk will not work with it. You would need Vodafone mobile connect. Vodafone has gr8 GPRS plans for pre-paid customers but turns out to be very expensive for post paid connections.

Camera is just OK. At 5MP it is not at all impressive. Pictures shot with my Nokia E61i look much better than on XT5.

WiFi WEP encryption supports only KEY#1. If you use other keys, it can not establish a connection. this is not a configurable option so you are forced to set KEY#1 in your WiFi router. Symbian and WM6.5 do support Keys 1 thru 4 for WEP.

1500mAH battery would have done wonders for this phone. It comes with 1230mAH :-(

Overall, I would say that the phone is great for a price tag of INR13799/- (On flipkart). Motorola also gives 4 movie tickets and 1 addidas jacket / windshield free! Other than the above mentioned issues everything else looked great. It's definitely a good buy for that price.

Froyo update

I bought this phone one month back. I chose this phone over other phones in this range because of its resolution (320*480). My overall experience with this phone is good.
Pros: Good resolution, Touch screen experience is smooth, body build is smooth and strong, trackball is nice.

Cons:No FM radio, Average Camera, No Flash support , No backlight for Touch keys.

Also i have installed custom froyo rom and its working great. You can find 4-5 custom roms for this phone .Gingerbread is coming soon.
I recommend this phone for people who are daring enough to root thier phone and install custom rom.

Good phone, with some limitations

Buying the phone from Flipkart was a pleasant experience. The Moto is slim and light-weight, with a rubberised back panel to prevent it slipping. The Android OS is ver 2.1, and is presented without the MotoBlur UI. Performance is very good and this is one of the faster Android budget phones around. I have also installed apps to enable the LED light on the camera as a torch. Flaws include the lack of a radio option and the lethargic camera without Autofocus. So some apps like Camera Scanner dont work well. Overall build quality is not very high, with the toggle button feeling rather flimsy. Still, its passable when you need a toggle in some apps. The processor sometimes struggles in high quality gaming, but overall it does a stellar job. The phone has a very nice look with chrome borders. However, the Samsung Galaxy Ace is probably the better buy as it addresses all these problems for the same price.

Motorola xt5 Review

I have used this phone for around 1 week now, based on 1 week below I am writing the review.

This does not have radio as mentioned in specs, but u can installed app and get internet radio.
Call Quality: Very good, even in traffic jam we can hear other side very clearly.
Touch screen sensitivity: very good
Camera: Does not look like 5MP camera, average
Battery : charging time 3hr, with wifi(1-2hrs usage), bluetooth ON I got 1.5 days
If u need to send group SMS's, u need to install Handcent sms app, else phone does not have any option for sending sms to group.
Not used GPS till now..so cant tell about it

Upgrade to 2.2 Froyo

Hi Guys,

It might be a Good phone, But the concern is the Upgrade,

Motorola Official Website says "Will Remain 2.1" They are not providing an Update [nor telling a date for the same].

I just dont want to get stuck with 2.1, HTC has released updates for 2.2 for Allmost all devices, Im considering HTC Desire bu have concerns on the Resolution.
