Moving On (Paperback) Price: Rs.200

Love, faith and trust, the key ingredients that make life worth living, is what is pondered over by author Jaya Jha in her debut novel, Moving On.

Summary Of The Book

The story revolves around the protagonist Smriti, diligent and hardworking, a girl determined to make something out of her life, and captures her story as she faces life head-on, through ups and downs, love and hate, laughter and tears, joy and sorrow.

Smriti, running away from her traumatic past, finds herself in a desperate situation that demands nothing but her courage to face her fears, in this case, her past. She strives to adapt to her new life but of course, as Smriti comes to realize eventually, the past always catches up at some point.

She finds love unexpectedly in her boss, Rohan. But it is up to Smriti to resolve her fears and give this love a chance. Moving On provides a deep insight into the world of relationships, proving that true love in all its forms is worth the hardships faced in life.

Life brings with it many hurdles, but with the right amount of faith and the willingness to trust completely and irrevocably, these barriers seem to dissolve at the end of the day. Covering aspects of love, emotion, heartbreak, family and expectations of society, Jaya Jha’s novel, published in 2011, is an inspiration for women all over the world.

“Moving on” the title itself is bound to trigger curiosity. At first glance the story may appear a simple love story but once you get in to it Ms Jha takes you on a roller coaster ride and you sure don’t want to put the novel down.

Smitri and Rohan, two people who in appearance are poles apart and yet as the story unfolds you discover to people who indeed have things in common, Smitri may have had the love of a mother but Rohan never did. Rohan may have been born with a silver spoon in the mouth yet he chose to build another company from scratch, and in the same way we see Smitri who with sheer determination becomes the perfect assistant.
Ms Jha takes us through the ups and downs in the lives of her characters, the highs and lows of the protagonists are presented in a way we can identify with them, we share Smitri’s pain when she hears of her mother’s death and we sure want to thrash the heartless Aditya . And of course who would not want to have a knight in shining armor like Rohan.

So, if you want to fall in love with love stories again, get your copy of “Moving On” let Ms Jha guide though a memorable journey.

Good potential

As a first novel, Moving On quite makes the cut. A good love story, potential for conflict and separation, haunting pasts. But a novel is so much more than two individuals and an overanalysis of their lives. This one especially would have been so much better with a crisper plot, short and pithy dialogues, more creative language (not just a bunch of daily conversations)and more dramatis personae. The characters are lonely and one-dimensional. I also think the main female character, while honest and diligent, is quite dull; she gives the feeling of needing more protection even as she is trying hard to avoid it. That is an inherent dilemma of the plot...
Jaya can be a good writer if she overcomes this urge of telling a simple story and bones up on creative writing skills. It's easy to be a Chetan Bhagat, but why must we not try to be Amitav Ghosh?

A must read!!

I can't actually gulp the fact that 'Moving On' is Jaya's first book!

Amazing writing skills. It just drew me with it!! With every page I read my penchant for the book increased.

Not just the writing skills, the story itself is a brilliant master piece!!!

Its a deep look inside the world of relationships! The relationship of Smriti and Rohan illustrates that its not just love that can make a relationship work but having faith in your relationship and your partner is also needed to take you through the rough times!!!

I would say you would miss out on an interesting story if you decide to give skip reading it!! Order one without fail!!!

A Love Story..from the start to the end!!

One amongst the amazing Love Stories that I have read..
The wonder is, two souls who were known to be hard core selfish by the outer world.. fall selflessly in love.. & their love this time was to no bounds.

Inspite of the hardships life had put them through, they learnt how to trust each other the hard way.

Moving On.. is just not a phrase but a motivation that no matter how worst the past is.. it is never too late to start a new beginning.. & true love helps you to sail through all ups & downs.

Loved the book .. Its worth a read..

Not that good

I bought this book seeing rave reviews on flipkart. The novel kind of dissappointed me. Generally I read for fun but this book made me slightly uncomfortable. Its serious story, & probably a bit too feministic for my taste. I'd rather prefer some humor in already complex life. Plot n characters are predictable & I felt like I am going through a 1980s Hindi film. Though I'd give the author credit for a tight n pacy story.
