Mr. Oliver’s Diary, authored by Ruskin Bond, is one of the delightful books written by him for children.
Summary of the Book
Mr. Oliver is a history teacher who comes to Simla with a gang of young boys to begin a new term at the Prep school. Not a single day goes by without Mr. Oliver having something to chronicle in his diary. He pens about the missing headmaster, boys who are extremely good at jokes and pranks, the girls’ school next door, a lovely lady called Anjali Ramola, a fire that breaks out one day, a hungry leopard and over a hundred frogs on the loose! All of these events are enough to create a ceaseless laugh riot! Let a copy of Mr. Oliver’s Diary find a warm place on your bookshelves.

Uncle Ken and Rusty are betterI am a Ruskin Bond fan. However, I can not deny that this Mr. Oliver is not as interesting as Uncle Ken or Rusty. Everything which is bond specific is in the book. Old world's charm, innocence, fun, pranks, sarcasm. However, Mr. Oliver's characters is of such a sad ass fellow, that the melancholy of the characters sucks up the fun, which is trademark bond. Still, its fun to read.

absolutely wonderfulnothing is as effective as a Ruskin Bond novel when you need a shot of sunshine rather badly after a horrible day...totally worth your time. Then again, I'm a school teacher, so I might be guilty of being a little partial to Mr. Oliver's plight :-D happy reading!!!!
