  • Description
Set in 1946 England, Murder at Rutherford Hall is a gripping tale that will have you turning pages till the end to figure out whodunit! When Lord Rutherford disappears suddenly and unaccountably and his breathtakingly beautiful, young wife Celia flees Rutherford Hall, with blood on her hands, on a cold November evening, it sets off a chain of events that irrevocably changes the lives of all involved and consequently the fortunes of the entire family. Rachel Markham, Lord Rutherfords niece and Jeremy Richards, an erstwhile Scotland Yard Detective team up to help the local police force unravel the mystery. Along the way, the charming characters simply pull you in to a setting of elaborate richness woven with bits and bobs of British humour and portraits of a bygone era where homes were large and beautiful, people dressed for dinners and life moved with a certain grace for the privileged. Against this enchanting backdrop, love and betrayal, life and death, laughter and grief, wealth and poverty come together to provide an immensely entertaining read.

    Unputdownable

Finished the book in one sitting. Rachel and Jeremy are amazing together, kept me guessing till the very end. A must read for people who love detective novels. Waiting eagerly for the next book in the series.

The Agatha Christie of our era.

Ah, the joy of reading that eluded me for such a long time is back.
Absolutely delighted with this book. A fun light read, with a terrific plot and enigmatic characters in a beautiful setting. In a world that is full of graphic violence this amazing book comes as a breath of fresh air. I hope Kolleri keeps penning more books. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I loved it !

Gripping story. Keeps you engrossed till the end. Takes you back to the bygone royal era of the British History. A beautifully well written murder mystery with twists and turns coupled with beautiful British Humour. Makes it a very interesting, relaxed and pleasant reading. Looking forward to more such stories from the stables of Kolleri.

    Murder Mystery and a Romance!

I really enjoyed this one in ebook format. It was fun, the characters interesting and the story a real 'whodunit' with a splash of romance thrown in. Very enjoyable and highly recommended! Go for it, if you enjoy stories set in the post war England - gorgeous homes and elegant people who have an inherent sense of Brit humor!

    Aptly dedicated to Agatha Christie

Reading this book made me realize that Agatha Christie still lives through the writings of such young authors who have been inspired by her. I highly recommend Murder at Rutherford hall for the fast pace, stylish writing and dark humor. Want to see Rachel Markam in action again.

    Apt title

Loved this book as it is very interesting mystery set in the England of Lords & pretty women. The beautiful heroine is suspected of murdering her husband. The body is not found & when it is ,someone else gets arrested. There is a parallel story of passion going on which is quite surprising considering that the British have a stiff upper lip ! Another death & there is danger in the air.Who is responsible ? Are both the deaths connected ? Has the police arrested the wrong person ? Was the murder...

    Cinematic Experience

This gave a feel of seeing a real thriller movie. Just couldn't resist in falling for Racheal. The way the story unfolds and the way it progress is very smooth. I really enjoyed reading a thriller fiction. Have never read such thriller earlier as it was not my kind of genre. Now I think I will start to read more. I am now waiting to read the second book of this series!.

    Way to go P.B. Kolleri!

    Quite a disappointment

With a title like that ,one would expect an exciting read with an interesting story line .Instead, what one gets is a boring plot, bland shallow characters and a very predictable ending. Sorry to be so blunt, but,it was way too "inspired" .

    Good book

The book is good read with a cup of tea or coffee, though the author is not agatha Christie and I could judge the murderer halfway thru the plot still good read for those who have read all agatha novels and can't find any close enough
