My Life, From Italy To America

My Life, from Italy to America is a story about the changes in my life. When I was eleven years old, my parents came to America from Italy but they could not take me with them. I quit school and worked on the family farm for the next three years. When I came to America, I had to go to school since I was only fourteen. Because I didnt speak English and had not been in school for three years, the principal of the local elementary school assumed that I was retarded and enrolled me in a school for retarded children. Eventually I was tested in Italian and they determined that I was normal and transferred me to a regular school. I then graduated from high school, received my bachelors and masters degrees from college, and taught high school and college mathematics in Massachusetts for the next thirty-four years. I also coached and refereed soccer for twenty-five years. I provided my three children with a college education and then retired to Florida with my wife.
