My Two Grandmas

"Why are people so different?" This question led to a heartfelt conversation with my daughter. After spending a weekend with both of her grandmothers, she was processing her thoughts about their differences and how much she loved them both. I quickly wrote them down and pondered how to capture her precious thoughts. Thoughts which led to the writing of this book. Grandmothers, biological or adopted, are such incredible blessings and the quality time they spend with their grandchildren is priceless. This book examines the special qualities in my daughter's grandmothers, their differences, as well as their common love for her. It includes a comparing/contrasting model that the reader can use in their own life as well as a discussion guide for grandmothers and mothers alike. Being different is a good thing and children need to realize that diversity -whether at home or in the world around them-is a part of life and to cherish the good in it. Love is a gift, and so are grandmothers. My Two Grandmothers is a book to be enjoyed by children of all ages. It also is a wonderful mentor text for teachers to use in their reading instruction.
