Nante Fante Samagra

Dear Santanu,
We are pleased to inform you that Narayan Debnath is still among us and continues to pen Nante Fante much to our delight.Having said that,we have to publish Samagra every month if we are to include every work of his in this lifetime.
Furthermore, your estimation of 1008 pages is not very accurate. Many a time,Narayan Debnath could not provide us with this comic strip every month so either it did not get featured in monthly Kishore Bharati or we had to reprint an earlier piece.
This Samagra contains all the comic strips till the year 2009.The pieces published thereafter are/have been published in individual paperbacks. The page limit is kept to 550 for the convenience of readers, beyond which it gets extremely cumbersome .
We would also like to inform you that as soon as we reach the 550-page mark,we will come out with another Samgagra.

Thank You.

INCOMPLETE "SAMAGRA" OF 550 PAGES OUT OF 1000+ PAGES (TILL DATE)

Its a great effort to keep whole Nonte-Phonte in an complete ("okhondo")collection book ! Smart binding and page quality is also excellent.

However, Nonte-Phonte comics was started from 1969 (around 42 year back) in monthly 'Kishore Bharati' magazine. It means (42 year* 12 issue yearly * 2 page each)= 1,008 PAGE (approx.) as in PUJABARSHIKI issue this comics page number is more than 2.
And still the comics continues in monthly Kishore Bharati magazine ....
Then only 550 page's SO-CALLED "Samagra" Nante-Phonte is misleading and NOT AT ALL A COMPLETE Collection of Nante-Phonte.

Moreover, Nante-Phonte thin-size Comics books were published in 25 Parts/Volumes (EACH 32 Pages) which includes (25*32)= 800 pages !!
If at all, the so-called 'SAMAGRA' contains all comics till 2009 then as on date we're missing (3 yrs* 12 months* 2 page monthly)= 72 pages. Hence, The 'SAMAGRA' size will be of (800-72)= 728 pages till the time of Publication in 2012 !
But the Book size is 550 pages !

Even if the objective is to bring whole Nonte-Phonte in part by part (more than one volume) then it could have transparently mentioned in ' book preface' /and the book should have marked as Samagra "Vol 1"
But no such note/remarks was mentioned in the book .... which is misleading to readers.

Narayan debnath is the uncrowned and most underrated king of bengali comics, who all through his life generated wonderful bengali comics,

Nonte fonte is his classic creation, and compiling all in one is an amazing concept

Excellent service of Flipkart !!! Total disappointment with Book

Review of Flipkart :
Here I should comment first about Flipkart delivery. I got the book within 2 days of placing order. But after opening the book I was too much disappointed !!! Because in the book lots of printing problems were there. I informed the same to the Customer care and they assured me to deliver a fresh copy of the same. HERE COMES THE MOST OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE!! ...To my delight they delivered the fresh copy just on the NEXT day of complain....!!!! THANKS to the awesome delivery and customer support of Flipkart.

Review of Book:
1. I am 100% agreed with Santanu da that this is not at all the complete collection of Nonte-Fonte. I read all the individual strips released till date . So I can give 100% assurance that this is Not At Alllllll Complete. Only some randomly selected stories are there in this book. Do not know why they had named the book as 'Samagra'. This is totally a misnomer without any doubt. Any person who read all the exploits on Nonte-Fonte will understand just upon seeing this book.
2. Another important thing is they have coloured the book, whereas the original strips are all Black and white. This is not at all expected. I personally think that after adding colours it looses its originality ant not at all LOOKS good!!! Even also the colouring is done so unwisely that many places it looks quite funny and cheap in sense. It really looses the original art of Mr. Debnath which , even though in black and white, delighted its thousands of fans over 40 years with huge response.
3. The price of the book is also unnecessarily high. If we take each single strip as Rs.15(which are not available now in the old 32 page format) it should be less than Rs.400 for all strips (total 25, even though this collection not even contains 80% of the total).

So I personally feel that if they really want to publish a complete collection, it should contain ALL the stories. Otherwise they should specify the timeline in the book containing all stories during that timeline, or else publish it in parts (e.g: Prothom Khondo, Dwiteeyo khando etc.) . With due respect to the publisher, I request you to please do not make this kind of editions as,at the end of the day, it is a complete wastage of readers money and expectations !!!

A Must Buy

This classic comic book by Narayan Debnath is a must have for all those who miss their childhood days. You will understand the actual meaning of LOL after reading the nonsense activity of Nante Fante and Keltuda.
