Nante Fante Samagra (Hardcover, Bengali) Price: Rs.250

Nante Fante Samagra is a famous comic strip written in Bengali by Narayan Debnath.

Summary Of The Book

Narayan Debnath is a very famous Bangla comic writer who has been a pioneer in publishing interesting comic strips for the Bengali audience. Nante Fante Samagra is one of his famous comics that was originally created as a comic strip and later published as a comic book. Debnath originally published Nante Fante Samagra as a series for Kishore Bharati, a popular monthly magazine for children.

The series is completely designed for children. Nante Fante Samagra consists of various interesting stories that revolve around the two protagonists, Nante and Fante (the title characters). Other important characters in these stories are a school senior called Keltuda and the Hostel Superintendent of these three characters. All of these stories highlight the trivial lives that the two main characters lead.

The characters belong to an unnamed town in West Bengal. Both Nante and Fante live in the school hostel where teachers are rarely seen. However, the author does bring in the superintendent and a few of the staff members of the hostel. To double the amusement of the young readers, Debnath has given funny nicknames to all of his characters. Nante Fante Samagra has been recreated in color book form since 2003 and has also been adapted into a television series.

Nante Fante Samagra

Dear Santanu,
We are pleased to inform you that Narayan Debnath is still among us and continues to pen Nante Fante much to our delight.Having said that,we have to publish Samagra every month if we are to include every work of his in this lifetime.
Furthermore, your estimation of 1008 pages is not very accurate. Many a time,Narayan Debnath could not provide us with this comic strip every month so either it did not get featured in monthly Kishore Bharati or we had to reprint an earlier piece.
This Samagra contains all the comic strips till the year 2009.The pieces published thereafter are/have been published in individual paperbacks. The page limit is kept to 550 for the convenience of readers, beyond which it gets extremely cumbersome .
We would also like to inform you that as soon as we reach the 550-page mark,we will come out with another Samgagra.

Thank You.

Excellent service of Flipkart !!! Total disappointment with Book

Review of Flipkart :
Here I should comment first about Flipkart delivery. I got the book within 2 days of placing order. But after opening the book I was too much disappointed !!! Because in the book lots of printing problems were there. I informed the same to the Customer care and they assured me to deliver a fresh copy of the same. HERE COMES THE MOST OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE!! ...To my delight they delivered the fresh copy just on the NEXT day of complain....!!!! THANKS to the awesome delivery and customer support of Flipkart.

Review of Book:
1. I am 100% agreed with Santanu da that this is not at all the complete collection of Nonte-Fonte. I read all the individual strips released till date . So I can give 100% assurance that this is Not At Alllllll Complete. Only some randomly selected stories are there in this book. Do not know why they had named the book as 'Samagra'. This is totally a misnomer without any doubt. Any person who read all the exploits on Nonte-Fonte will understand just upon seeing this book.
2. Another important thing is they have coloured the book, whereas the original strips are all Black and white. This is not at all expected. I personally think that after adding colours it looses its originality ant not at all LOOKS good!!! Even also the colouring is done so unwisely that many places it looks quite funny and cheap in sense. It really looses the original art of Mr. Debnath which , even though in black and white, delighted its thousands of fans over 40 years with huge response.
3. The price of the book is also unnecessarily high. If we take each single strip as Rs.15(which are not available now in the old 32 page format) it should be less than Rs.400 for all strips (total 25, even though this collection not even contains 80% of the total).

So I personally feel that if they really want to publish a complete collection, it should contain ALL the stories. Otherwise they should specify the timeline in the book containing all stories during that timeline, or else publish it in parts (e.g: Prothom Khondo, Dwiteeyo khando etc.) . With due respect to the publisher, I request you to please do not make this kind of editions as,at the end of the day, it is a complete wastage of readers money and expectations !!!

Back to childhood days

Who cares whether it contains all of the stories. Narayan debnath is an ocean and you can't collect all of his creation. Its a combination of lot of stories, may miss some stories, but its ok. Old stories, old faces, old feelings... you'll go back to your childhood days if you have crossed that. You can show your next generation how your childhood was. And most preciously, kids also like this.
The colouring concept... yes, at first look it may hurt our feelings, who has read it in b&w, but to attract the new age kids of Dhoom-3 age, the colour package is must.
About flipcart & ws retails, it rocks. delivered within two days, good packaging, good behaviour. I was not at the written address on that day, they call me in the morning and delivered in the changed location. thanks to flipcart.

A Must Buy

This classic comic book by Narayan Debnath is a must have for all those who miss their childhood days. You will understand the actual meaning of LOL after reading the nonsense activity of Nante Fante and Keltuda.
