  • Description

This collection of essays seeks to probe the character of the twin phenomena of colonialism and nationalism in modern India. It provides an alternative framework for the study of modern Indian history by examining the mutual interrelationships between politics, economics and history through a wide spectrum of work on fundamental themes. Within this framework, historical processes can be analysed, a whole set of new and different questions asked, and the study and research of modern Indian history channeled into paths different from those which dominated colonial historiography for over fifteen decades.

The essays relate to a variety of themes: the colonial structure in India, the basic strategy of the nationalist leadership, the complex relationship of the capitalist class with colonialism and nationalism, peasantry and nationalism, and the efforts to evolve alternative anti- imperialist strategies.

    Just a bad writer

this writer (Bipan Chandra) used a word "revolutionary terriorts" for our shaheed's ( bhagat singh , Azad etc...) and also clarifies why he uses that word to give a note of speech that talk was on 2006 by some writer ... that's why i do not like this writer and his book ..total waste of money ...!!
