only used this with linux, dont know about windows
this has ath9k chipset with full support for monitor, master, promisc and managed modes, download firmware from linuxwireless.org
lsusb shows:

used it perfectly with linux 3.2.x series
cant make this a member of network bridges for virtual machines
did not try usb passthrough in kvm yet

Works just fine
Does what its supposed to do. Works with my asus n10 (150mbps) router. Shows full bars in Win 7 from 20 feet away. I guess thats okay.
You get around 8.5 - 9 mBps (thats what you actually get on wireless n 150) when you transfer files wireless between computers.

Very good Product
The Delivery was fast as usual from flipcart.
About the product. I have a netgear router and this being the same company works realy well.
Got the delivery today.Took about 5mins to install the drives and i ws ready to go.
The router is about 20meters away and i still get 3 bars and the speed is awesome.
You can depend upon netgear as its the best for wireless products.However there are few more adapters that you can get at cheaper prices but they dont have the brand name.If you are looking for wireless adapter than go for this one its totally dependable and good quality.

Excellent wireless usb adaptor
This is one of the best wireless usb that I have used and I have tried many (none of which suited my requirements).
The best feature is the range. The previous adaptors I tried had a hard time detecting my wireless signal (my wifi router is one floor below). This one not only detected it easily but had 3 bars indicating a very stable connection.
Additionally, I have my connection setup so that it does not transmit the ssid. This adaptor detected that as well and all I had to do was provide the ssid and password (no need to setup a connection manually).
Another very useful accessory is the long usb cable with a stand provided so that you can connect the cable to ports at the back of the CPU and rest the adaptor at the front. For me this was excellent as it freed the usb ports at the front (which I require to connect my phone and hard disk). This also results in a better wifi signal.
The included CD contains the driver software which also shows the current Internet traffic, network map and other useful data.
The quality of the adaptor is also very good with a blue light which flickers when there is data transfer.

HIGHLY UNreliable
I had 3 of them from before, i got another one from flipkart and total it is 4.
For the first few days it worked fairly well, decent reception and kept the connection consistent. afterwards it does not!
I bought it together with NETGEAR DGN1000 and it will work fine with that.
my suggestion DO NOT BUY THIS! if you use OTHER THAN Netgear router
STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT TO GO with this product I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH 4 SAME ADAPTERS

Q) it keeps disconnecting!???
A) The work around to save some time on the reconnection is to unplug from computer and replug so what takes 3 mins takes 30 secondsThis happens frequently.
Q) doesnt turn on when you start up or start from sleep mode!???
A) unplug it and plug it back in to get it to power on and connect.
Q) internet sharing...OR TETHERING....or hotspot????
A) simmply wont work! tried using connectify, wont work!
Q) stopped working???
A) issue is common with this adapter.
