Jackson was born in Topeka, in March of 1960. He spent most of his childhood in Denver, Colorado, and in Amarillo, Texas. He moved to Glendale, Arizona, in his teens where he went to school in western Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona, where he majored in business and automotive. He also worked as a school bus driver until he moved to Paducah, Kentucky, in 2001, where he now resides with his wife Angela, and his elderly ill mother Mary. He found his love for poetry when he was college.
