The New Guards

Doctor Liam Brannigan, a Dublin born economist working in the white hot political atmosphere of Capitol Hill in Washington, USA follows his boss, a newly retired Senator to Las Vegas to assist in a straightforward business project. Unknown to him, his quiet life of cool research and calm persuasion, is to be turned upside down when he becomes involved inadvertently in witnessing the slaughter of a group of priests waiting innocently at a taxi rank. As his relationship with the beautiful Susan Lattanzi deepens, he is drawn into a murky world of violence and confusion - not knowing whether to trust the Vegas police, the FBI or the Mafia. Brannigan's life is put in danger as he tries to survive the attempts of Posse Commitatus - an undercover right wing group dedicated to the protection of their version of the American way - who are intent upon the assassination of his boss. The Middle American values of his employer begin to erode as those who preach right wing evangelism, non payment of Federal taxes and violence towards minority groups, pursue Liam and threaten his life and those he holds dear.
