Nick of Time

“Nick of Time” spins the story around three main characters- Aleyha, Vicky and Shagun; three childhood friends who grow up only to complicate relations between them to the fullest. A marriage that invokes many past emotions between the protagonists creates even more difficulties in the marriage. Which towards the end, hilariously gets sorted in a last-moment misunderstanding, the book thus aptly named.
The characters of the protagonists are well defined, and un-stereotyped, which doesn’t leave any loop holes for a lot of criticism in characters, an amazing job done for a debutante author. There is a complete view inside the head of every character, switching point of views is an appreciable job done by Komal Mehta. The guy lead is the regular Indian groom and not the quintessential “tall-dark-handsome” fantasy man, which makes the book relatable and believable as real. There are a few mushy moments, which are not exaggerated, and enhance the storyline. Amidst the wedding chaos and confusion of emotions, the reader will find a few moments of depth that are touching but not clichéd, a rather rare quality to find in the romance genre today.
The story takes a little time to get the attention totally but slowly becomes a page-turner. With the backdrop of Chandigarh, the cleanest city of India, the story is also as clean which would be liked by the shy population. Complete with the “Big fat Indian wedding” setting the book is a sure entertainer for all ages. Though would click more with the youth. It’s an overall light, breezy, funny and thoroughly entertaining book that will linger in the minds and shelves of the readers for quite a long time after reading it.

I bought this book from Flipkart and as usual I experienced for what flipkart is known for i.e. the best services. The book is really awesome nice characterisation. Code mixing makes the book really interesting & fascinating to read. Great Work done by Komal Mehta Thumbs Up!!! I am also planning to buy 2 more books to gift by dear friends as their birthday presents. Highly refreshing book. If you are tired from daily routine work and bored of rushes and peak hours in local trains than do carry this book with you whenever you are travelling and u will experience the difference. Highly recommended to all Book lovers!!!

I love reading modern Indian literature but have to say this book is one of the worst I have ever read. Flat and predictable story, soppy romantic clichees and booooring! I had to really push myself and managed to read one third of it before I gave up. I am glad I got it from an online library instead of wasting money buying it. The author should stop watching bollywood movies to then write nonsense plotline....or better give up writing books at all. Changing the perspective was confusing and annoying and it shows immaturity to see a book my a Mehta with a main character who is a Mehta as well. Give me a break! What a waste of time to read this, don't do it if you value your time!

The story starts well, it has been written from three angles/views of three main characters-Alehya, Vicky and Shagun. Both Alehya & Vicky had feelings from the start but Alehya is unknown about it and Vicky decides to ignore them consider the fact that Alehya doesn't feel for him.Moreover, Vicky is getting married in 3 weeks to Alehya's best friend.

The story gears up better with time , but the best element is the climax which has a humour element as well as a happy ending , much to desires of all three characters. Overall the story entertains the reader till the end.

Personally I do not read romantic genres but I gave this novel a try. And when I'd finished half novel, I developed interest in this youthful, light but impressive characterization, development of events and style of conclusion and dilemmas of all three protagonists. An enjoyable romantic story without any hint of cheapness usually I saw in some modern novels. It's a very good and totally enjoyable book. I just bought soft copy from Kindle store also.
Go buy this, you won't regret your decision!
