The Coolpix camera features a focal length of 4.5 - 94.5 mm, which translates to a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 25 - 525 mm. This ultra-zoom camera features a 21x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom, both of which endeavor to let you take detailed and sharp images of subjects who are a distance away. The L310 boasts of a CCD image sensor that lets you take images at a stunning 14.1 megapixel resolution.
This solid bridge camera from Nikon features a familiar body design, with a rounded grip on the front that also features a textured grip-pad that provides a sure hold, for when you’re in a crowd or at a height. The top panel has minimum controls, making for easy shooting. The Coolpix L310 weighs 435 g, and is easy to cart around through day-long shoots if need be. You can shoot videos in HD at 1280 x 720 dot pixels and 30 fps for high-quality and crystal clear videos.
The EXPEED C2 image processor delivers high speed shooting in the palm of your hands, along with high resolution and noise-free images. Use the 3 inch TFT LCD screen to compose and preview your creations to get the best. This screen sports a resolution of 230,000 dot pixels and a 5-level brightness adjustment, which together relay bright and clear playback.
Battery and Storage
The Coolpix L310 has a whopping 102 MB internal memory in which you can store all your photographs and videos. This memory can also be expanded using SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards, which are readily available. The Nikon L310 is powered by 4 alkaline batteries, which allow you to take up to 420 shots on full charge. You can also use 4 Lithium Ion or NiMH batteries, which will allow you to take up to 1130 or 690 shots respectively on full charge. You can transfer images from the Coolpix L310 to a computer or laptop using the high speed USB port.
Performance
The Nikon Coolpix L310 has an aperture range of f/3.1 - 5.8, which controls the size of the lens opening that lets light fall on the image sensor. The camera also has Auto focus, which functions in the range of 50 cm onwards (Wide) and 1.5 m to infinity (Tele), letting you enjoy photography while the camera focuses on its own.
Low light photography will never be the same again. The Coolpix camera has a light sensitivity range of ISO 80 - 6400, which governs the noise or grains in your photos. The shutter speed functions at a speed range of 1/1000 - 1 sec, which can be slowed to up to 4 seconds in the Fireworks Show scene mode to capture the beauty of a light burst in its entirety. You can light up scenes with the built-in flash that has a range of 0.5 - 6 m (Wide) and 1.5 - 3 m (Tele).

The Coolpix L310 features shooting modes like Museum, Food, Fireworks, Backlighting and more. These shooting modes come with customized exposure and focus settings for easy photography. The sensor shift and electronic Vibration Reduction ensures stock-still and blur-free images every time.
This Nikon bridge camera features face detection, which automatically identifies faces in the frame and optimizes settings for them. The Smile Timer takes a photo when your subject smiles, and the Blink Proof function warns you when a subject has blinked, letting you replace the photo with a new one. These together ensure the work is taken out of photography, leaving behind only the pleasure of it.
With the self-timer feature, you can delay the release of the shutter by about 10 seconds, which gives you enough time to get in front of the camera for a group photograph. You can also take multiple photographs with a single click of the shutter release button with the Continuous Shooting mode, which takes up to 19 images at about 0.7 fps. I own this camera and absolutely enjoy it ...! :-)
Own this camera and find it worth every Re. spent!
Having used a plain vanilla point & shoot for about 5 years, I graduated to this bridge and 'am finding this absolutely perfect for my needs.
Pros:
* Crystal clear images with vivid colours & details even in dimly lit surroundings.
* Very good zoom factor; have captured couple of snaps of moon on a full-moon day and it looks like I've done it on a high end SLR.
* Lot of customizable options like scene selection involving background light which renders perfectly lit pictures even when sun is shining right before you.
Cons:
* Slight delay after shooting a picture and camera getting ready for next.
* Video options if continuous autofocus is selected tends to get blurred when another subject suddenly passes through the area.
Overall, it's a perfect camera for someone who's looking for something above a simple point & shoot but not yet needing the intricacies of an SLR, someone like me !
Nikon Coolpix is Cool
I own this camera from since 1-year, and i am feeling great with Coolpix L310. Here are some points you would like to note down this product.
1. 21x optical zoom:-
The main reason i buy this cam was its optical zoom capacity and 21x zoom, its huge.If you move into Hilly Areas then you will realize the presence of Coolpix L310. It reduces 1-mile distance to 10-meter. But you also have to buy a cam stand, because as the zooming increases variations in capturing image also raises due to hands.
2. 14.1 Mp:-
However there are a lot of cams in this price lot and even in lesser one with 14.1 Mp , but that thing is compromise-able. picture quality is really good.
3. Semiprofessional Look :-
As you can see that it have a professional cams look which can attract you , however i have Coolpix in Red color. But after all i love it.
4. Battery Backup:-
i will say that its average. if you are going for a tour i will recommend you to bring a set of non-rechargeable battery cells. cells take 4-6 hours to completely charge and they can live long depending on your usage. One day i bring it to a party and of course i use flash, but after all i was able to take around 250 pics and battery still alive. So i must say that for one day you can use it roughly.
5. video recording:-
well like all other digital cams u can't use flash while recording video. so you need external flash light. But with Coolpix L310 u can record videos with 760pix. and it feels like you are recording a movie(that's depend how you record :p). Its fine for me .
6. Pricing:-
i bought this product last year at the festival of diwali(not from flipkart). I take it from my friend's store which cost me Rs.13200/- plus a diwali gift voucher(hand watch).
So finally i will recommend you that if you are buying this product for tours and travel then it will be good for you. otherwise its all up to you.
Worth Buying Nikon L310 Point and Shoot
I bought this Camera recently 1 month back with 4GB Card + Carry bag + rechargeable kit with 4 battery.The best points that i like in this camera is ...
1. The flash power is very strong as it uses 4 batteries even in total dark.
2. Vibrating or running image can be captured perfectly in sports mode.
3. 14.1 Megapixel with 21x optical zoom is very sharp for any enviornment for a point and shoot camera at this price.
4. Using Auto Mode give a very bright image with more color sharpness and clarity.
5. The CCD image sensor gives a perfect image even in running mode.
6. The battery backup is really amazing as i already took almost 50 snaps day\night and still its active.
If you are planning to buy a reasonable came just go for it.

L310 is Not a Bridge, but it's really a Bride
The L310 from Nikon family is a budget camera for a serious photographer who is tired on carrying SLRs during family outings.
It gives the pleasure of using a Bigger Lense Camera with a great 21X optical zoom, while compact in operation even for a novice.
The colours are very natural with a perfect and faster focusing.
One should not forget to carry a mini tripod to have more control while shooting the distant objects.
The lacuna in it is the vibration while using the zoom control as well as occasional out focus during the video recording.
