Performance and quality come together to bring to you a camera that will blow you away with an experience crafted for professionals and hobbyists alike. The Nikon Coolpix P510 belongs to the Performance series of digital cameras that bring advanced features to the palm of your hands. Ideal for traveling and sports photographers, the Coolpix P510 features a 42x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom. Take close-up shots from a safe distance to analyze a golf swing or a running gazelle with the precision performance of this digital camera.
The Coolpix digital camera has a NIKKOR lens with a focal length of 4.3 - 180 mm and a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 24 - 1000 mm. The Nikon camera sports a CMOS image sensor that enables images at a resolution of 16.1 megapixels.
The camera is designed like a professional DSLR, with a rounded grip on the front right panel that lets you hold on to your camera firmly. The back panel features a one-touch button for video recording, image preview and menu controls. The rotary dial lets you switch between modes like flash, timer and the likes. This Nikon point and shoot camera weighs 555 g and is reassuringly bulky in your hands. You can use the Nikon P510 to shoot videos in Full HD at 1920 x 1080 dot pixels and 30 fps.
The EXPEED C2 image processing system delivers high-sensitivity performance which, in turn, provides crystal clear images every time. The P510 features an electronic viewfinder with a diopter adjuster that can be used to compose your images. The 3 inch TFT LCD screen has a resolution of 921,000 dot pixels and an anti-reflection coating that reduces glare on the screen when you’re standing under the bright sun. This screen is also tiltable to 82 degrees, which lets you take pictures even in awkward places as it affords a better angle of view.
Battery and Storage
The Coolpix P510 has an internal memory of 90 MB in which you can store your photographs. You can also expand this memory with SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards. The P510 is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. This lets you take up to 240 images on full charge. The high speed USB cable allows you to transfer images from your laptop to a computer or PC, making more space in your camera for additional images. The HDMI mini connector (Type C) allows you to beam your images and Full HD videos on a large screen television.
Performance
The Coolpix P510 features an aperture range of f/3 - 5.9, which controls the size of the lens opening that allows light to fall on the image sensor. The Auto focus feature has a functioning range of 50 cm onwards (Wide) and 1.5 m to infinity (Tele), giving you a wide canvas of subjects to choose from. The light sensitivity of the camera has a range of ISO 100 - 3200, letting you take bright and sharp images even in low light situations.
Images in the dark will never be the same again, with a shutter speed of 1/4000 - 1 sec. You can take bright images even at night, with the additional built-in flash. The flash has a range of 0.5 - 8 m (Wide) and 1.5 - 4.5 (Tele), which will light up every corner of the scene in front you.
Features
Experiment with the 16 shooting modes of this camera, like Snow, Pet Portrait, Landscape, Food and more. In these popular shooting modes, the settings are automatically adjusted to make you unique photographs bright and sharp, with emphasis on the right parts. The lens shift Vibration Reduction ensures that your images are blur-free by compensating for accidental camera shaking.
The face detection feature of the P510 identifies when the frame includes a face. It then adjusts settings to ensure the people in the frame are in sharp focus. The camera also features a built-in GPS with geo-tagging features. You can tag photographs depending on where you took them, and relive those moments in their entirety when you look at the photographs again in the future.
The self-timer lets you delay the shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds and leave the camera on a stable surface to take blur-free images even in the dark. You could also use this to join friends in a photograph. The Continuous Shooting mode lets you capture snaps at 7 frames per second to record every heartwarming and adorable moment in your life.

It's been a week that i got this camera.I wanted a camera which is light weight, have good zoom, decent low light performance. There were only three of them i had to consider, Nikon P500,P510 and Sony HX100V. IMHO Nikkor lens is better than Sony, hence it was either P500 or P510.
There are actually only three key differences between P500 and P510. First one is 36x vs 42x optical zoom, Second is better ISO ratings, and third is built-in GPS. I wanted better optical zoom hence i went for P510 and it was totally worth it. It has fantastic zoom. built in GPS means, when you upload photo to various online services it will automatically display the location on map, low light photos are also good. P510 can also shoot higher MP photos but once you cross 10MP there is not much difference in quality unless you want to print it on billboard.
I feel it was good decision to go for P510 against P500.Best 3 thousand i spend on gadget :)
Note: in the low light condition and at 40-42x zoom it becomes difficult to click clear photos. If that is what you are looking for, buy a tripod as well.
I bought P510 a month ago(not from FLIP) and am having a very good experience with this one.
-42x is a greater closeness to your subject and combined with another of 2x DIGITAL ZOOM, its a BOOM. I clicked few photograps of FULL MOON and I LIVE THEM.
-but yeah, this much magnification also magnify the noise and shaking, need to have steady hands or a tripod.
-The Electronic VIEWFINDER is not much impressive, you can't use screen and VF simultaneously, need to switch every time.
-Manual Shooting gives you full controls over the shots and Automatic Mode acts like an experienced photographer, dual advantage.
-They say P510 comes with high ISO rating, great shutter speed, Well I say, thats just OHKEYY NOTE, nothing special about this.
-The AUTO FOCUS MODE on video recording is not much impressive, also, while recording, the OPTICAL ZOOM makes NOISE and that is also recorded in the STEREO AUDIO FORMAT. Then what...? I didn't buy this one to shoot videos. HUH.
-In SCENES MODE, NIKON has given many shooting modes. Choose your most suitable and ROCK.
-Battery life is not bad, and not too good, even. NIKON claims that P510 shoots 250+ on single charge, well, I shoot more than 300(I kept the display off and used the EVF, used sunlight and flash off) but it takes 5 HOURS to fully recharge the battery and bad thing is, when it is on charge, you can't do anything with the camera.
.
OKEY, ENOUGH, if you want to buy a BRIDGE, this is one of the best Options.
Make few more clicks, make your CARD ready, pay and buy this one, I hope you will write a REVIEW of SATISFACTION after few weeks.
ROCK.
Bought this cam yesterday, not from flipkart though. Wanted Red one, out of stock so settled for black.
For still photography the cam is great. 42x zoom makes the wildlife photography even more fun. Wide angle shots.
Pros:
- Massive 42x zoom: for a casual photographer like me this is enough, dslr gives you more freedom though. This cam reduces the pain of carrying (and also buying :)) multiple lenses suitable for each moment.
- Inbuilt GPS.
- Stereo mic.
- Tiltable screen (but only in one plane).
- Small and light weight for the performance it gives.
- Slow motion option is just pure awesomeness.
- ISO ratings.
Cons:
- GPS never works(almost).
- Noise from lens motor.
- Crazy focus hunting while taking video.
- Overpopulated sensor.
- No RAW format.
- Blurring at the max zoom, may be due to anti-shake (lens shift Vibration Reduction) mechanism.
- Low on battery backup.
- Slow startup and focus time compared to Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150/ 200.
Despite all the drawbacks it think its a pretty good camera for still photography atleast. Video is good as long as you don't start zooming.
The camera is excellent. zoom is great and you can take pictures of very far objects. The picture clarity and quality is great. Its a cheap and better option against a DSLR camera.I started testing it and I am satisfied with its performance.Camera has very good low light performance and video recording is also of good quality.
Service of Flipkart was also good. Got camera with in 4 days after order.
I had bought this camera 6 months ago.....so I think am in a better position to give a review which can help you all who are lil bit confused....
Zoom: It is the best part of this camera.....After I had got it for few days i have just use it for it's zooming....its just in bengali term....."jaa taa"...means unbelievable.... I alwys feel proud to show this quality of zooming to any1....100 upon 100 people just blown away.....Yup...it is...
Picture quality is very similar to SLR quality....not actual but apx to SLR...
Who says its take only 200 snap with its fully charged battery??? i relly don know....But what i can share with you, that today, means 22nd march, 2013 I had taken 287 photographed and its not even lossed a single mark of charge...and every time I have chechd my pics after taken and all photographs have been taken in LCD Display MODE....!!!
GPS is working !!! yes still working....
Now at the conclusion : Most of the people alrdy have said me that they are going to buy this cam after seeing it's performnce.... dont hesitate buddy....Go for it.....I also alwys thought to buy a DSLR cam...but it would not be a good deal..... Just think if you r not a professional photographer yet...U dnt hv to carry extra lenses....What much zoom it ofers that much zooming with SLR lences cost near 80000.00 INR...i m not joking....U dont have to focus manualy...I suggest every1 to buy thiscamera, specially begginner....stat with this cam...learn photography well...then expend mloney on DSLR. I can asssure you it will not dissapoint you....You will give me a spcl thank U.....:)
