The TTL phase detection Auto Focus in the camera uses the Nikon Multi-CAM 3500FX Auto Focus module and gives up to 51 focus points (15 cross-type sensors). The focusing mode supported by this Nikon camera include Single-servo AF (AF-S), Continuous-servo AF (C) and Manual focus (M). The sensitivity of this Digital SLR camera ranges from ISO 200 - 6400 and can be further expanded up to Hi-1 (ISO 12,800) and Hi-2 (ISO 25,600).The electronically-controlled vertical-travel focal-plane shutter of the D700 has range of 1/8000 sec to 30 secs using the Bulb. This digital camera has a pop up i-TTL balanced fill-flash.

D700 from Flipkart
Got a very good deal at Flipkart - 126k body plus 70-300 G lens.
Terrific performance. Very low noise - goes to ISO 6400 with good results. Better to shoot RAW at high ISO and PP for noise reduction. Out of camera Jpegs are also very good.
Good white balance.
Its 12 Megapixel full frame sensor is exceptional.
Nothing better than this for the serious amateur.
Use with good quality lens (suggest Nikon only) for best results.
CONS -
Mirror slap is noisy (you get used to it after some time)
Uses CF cards. - Suggest you buy 2 No's 8 or 16GB UDMA CF cards which should see you through most shoots.
