Nikon ML-L3 Camera Remote Control

I own a Nikon D5100. After purchasing a DSLR, i realized a silly but real problem. There is no one to take my photographs.. :P

Since i lives alone and there is no one to take my photo , i had to lean on self timer. but there was a focusing issues and less time (max 20 sec in timer), it was a hectic job for me to take my pics... :-/

So i decided to buy a remote control and bought it from some other site on the same price.got it on the 2nd day of ordering (COD).

the really interesting part of this remote , my camera does focusing unless using timer. My long term problem got sort out.. now i can take my pics with out anyone's help... :P

Set the frame, stand in front of cam .. count yourself.. smile.. and Click.. :)

This product is as per my expectation. I've already tried it a few times with my Nikon DSLR and it does what it's suppose to do. One good thing is that I don't need to keep the Remote controller exactly in line with the IR sensor (at the front side of Camera). It can even operate the shutter release from behind the camera. Of course I stay close to the camera in those circumstances.

I haven't tested the range but so far it works for me.

The price is also quite reasonable, and I feel it's a must have if you want to avoid self timer and damping vibration during shutter release.

To start with, the ML - L3 is a wireless remote to control the DSLR camera shutter release. It is used to trigger the shutter, without actually touching the camera. The body is made of plastic, and it's quite a handy device.

Uses
- Long Exposure Shots, When taking photos at slow shutter speeds, any touching on the camera causes movement resulting in image blurring. ML-L3 is very useful in such shots.
- Photographing self/groups, It works much better than the timer mode on the camera. The remote can be a great tool for taking group photographs with the "camera-man" in the picture too.

Range
- 20-30 ft behind and front of the camera.
- Before buying the product, I read some reviews mentioning that the remote does not perform accurately in bright sunlight settings due to Infrared Interference. However, the device worked equally great in indoor as well as outdoor environs.

Operation
- Camera I use : Nikon D5100
Menu > Shooting Menu > Release Mode > Quick Response Remote OR Delayed Remote (2 Seconds Delay)

Compatibility
- Works fine with most Nikon DSLR's like - D3200/5100/5200/600/7000/7100. However, check once before purchasing.

I had a Nikon SLR and thought of buying a remote which had many uses like Slow shutter, Macro shots and the best of all. To be in the picture with all. You might feel of the Self timer feature. For self timer you need to focus on to a point and then press the shutter release and you have to stay aligned with the focussed subject while in this case you just have to change the shutter setting to remote with 2s delay. Whenever you will press the remote. It will autofocus and shoot the photos. The range is also quite good and you can wirelessly fire the camera from quite a far distance. Built quality is top notch. Doesnt look like cheap plastic and can say with confidence that it should be able to avoid damage on fall. Comes with a very good quality cover material and that can be attached to camera strap. You will be amazed with the cover quality and the detailing in it also. Remote amazed me as in broad dayligh even when i used it on the back of camera which doesnt have infrared sensor, from 10 mtr away, it workd. The cheap ones wont be able to do this. Excellent range from any direction irrespective of sensor position on camera. I use is for longer than 30 sec exposure in bulb mode. As otherwise you would have to press down and hold shutter for the amount of time larger than 30 sec and that will cause blur. It uses cr2 battery which u can find in watch stores. One battery should last for more than 2 year even after heavy use. My nikon D7000 also gives 2 secong delay mode which helps in getting my self in frame for creative shots which may include a person.
