It was vampires again. It was always something. There was always some reason why a stranger knocked on your door in the middle of the night, and it was seldom a good one. They tended to bleed on the carpets, and it was getting harder to explain the noise to the neighbours. But if the werewolves were all she had to worry about, Madeline's life would be much simpler. But there's a war coming, all based on superstition and some myth that no one fully understands anyway. People are dying and someone is trying to kill her, which is incredibly inconvenient. Everyone expects her to save the world, and it's all getting too much to live up to -- there are too many demands and questions, like, 'You're not going out dressed like that, are you?'
