Nokia C1-01

I bought one in Aug 2011. I ordered a White one and what I got looks like a dark grey one. Or maybe the white one is not actually white. In any case,since it's for home use only,I can let it go.

As for the phone,
> Only the front panel color is of your choice. The back panel is a dark silverish-grey
> USB cable is not included. And it's a propriety Nokia cable that you'll have to buy if you need one.
> Has a 3.5 mm jack. That's cool.
> The screen size is good.
> The UI is the usual Nokia. But it's sluggish compared to Nokia legends like the 1100. Although it's not annoyingly slow.
> The sound is good
>The music player is basic.You cant create a new playlist.The olny three default ones are "last added","recently played" and "most played". Other than that,you can sort songs by album,artist and genre
>The camera is a shitty VGA. But you can't expect much better at this price.
>It includes something called OVI LifeTools. They're good if you have some money to burn OR really need those features. But otherwise,they're pretty useless for the average user.
>The battery life is symbolics of nokia- large ! My phone isn't used much,so I charge it once a week.
>It's got Bluetooth App to back up phone data. Comes in handy
>Also has something called "Phone switch app" that gets data from a phone whose SIM you are about to steal. Havn't tried it yet,but looks good.
>Alarm clock has only one alarm
>Can record calls,but only AFTER they begin. That is clumsy. But there is no limit on the duration of recording.
>Can do email (App for it is inside the messages folder)

Overall,a pretty good phone. Recommended.

I bought this as second phone as my BB got corrupted:

1. UI response is too slow for a sane person. You have to wait for 'seconds' before it starts showing contacts. Even older generation phones respond faster. If I had used this phone for 5 minutes before ordering it, I would have never ever bought it

2. SMS editor is absolutely pathetic. I have stopped sending SMS's altogether for the fear of agonizing experience you have to endure to type few numbers in it. I have tried tweaking the settings/options but to no effect. May be there is something that can be done with settings, but if a computer engineer can't find it out easily then what will be the state of general folks!!

3. Crappy Camera: Too grainy, though I don't use much

I want to mention here that I was a big fan of low end Nokia phones for the value of money and usability they used to provide. However, this phone has just completely demolished the special place they used to hold in my heart.

I've bought it before 6 months @Rs. 2700 when it's in market for first time & using till now. This device is really satisfying in case of value for money. The gray one is more cool than the white one (i've). The short-cut feature is amazing; u can place 3 different size of transparent menu bar in the front display screan area with many shortcuts. I use to keep the time & date at the top; email, chat, gallary, browser, at the middle; & music player, radio at the bottom shortcut bar! Coz that looks prettier & gives u easy access to browse ur C1.
But, for amature users it's quite tricky to find out the gallery & games, collection in extra.
The email, chat features are cool. But, the ovi life tools in the new age Nokia phones are worthless, coz u've to pay more than it helps!
It would be more cool if it's 3rd party Nokia theme supported; coz the menu bar at the bottom of the screen is too dull!
This is a ovi suite conn. supported device & not comfortable for the Nokia PC Suite users (untill they install the new Nokia pc conn. cable driver).
The VGA Camera in it is not for cool photographers!
But, the data transfer GPRS conn. is faster than the other earlier new age devices from Nokia.
It would be more effortable if the contacts can be insert in the msg index directly!
Battery life is good.
But, the headphone with it is harm/painfull to the ear, so i'll like to advice u a new one with ear-buds...

Really a heck of a device. If you think its bad, IT IS NOT BAD AT ALL. Its got features you would want in some of its competitors at the same price range but you won't ever get that elsewhere. The first thing mentionable is the Series 40 OS by Nokia which by no means needs any introduction. If you've ever used one of THE NOKIA's then you might understand what I'm talking about. It has a nice looking outer body with soft touch feel on the battery cover but plastic by no doubt, 1.8 inch screen, a 0.3mp camera GPRS, FM Radio with recording expandable memory up to 32GB, 1020mAh battery, a decent sounding loudspeaker, and if you are not one of the loudies out there you still have a 3.5mm jack, I mean what more could you ask for such a low level price range and that too a Nokia, if you think you can get a better device at this price range, GO GET IT. The only set back I think would be the internal memory(10MB) and the RAM(16MB) both being very less and will not allow multitasking at all but if you are buying this phone don't ever think you would get something better because of the price. The only thing I recommend is that you get you phone updated as soon as you get it because(in my humble opinion) the phone is a bit bug prone and deals with occasional lags. After updating the phone, most of its problems have been ironed out. Take the help of the Nokia Suite or get it done via any of the Nokia Care representatives. I am in no means a Nokia fan boy as I might sound but this phone just blows its competition.

3. Slightly buggy and laggy out of the box.

Conclusion:- I recommend it for its price range.
Had to give 4/5 just for its out of the box problems.

After long research on internet and flipkart, I bought this phone for my mother. She was using old nokia phone, So did't want to confuse her with other brand (wanted to reduce learning curve).

Bought the phone on 28-March-2012, From the day two, I have visited nokia service centre many times to correct the signal drop and "no sim card error", it works for few hours and again the same. Now, I am fighting for replacement or other model. (I didn't buy it from flipkart, I should have bought it flipkart, errr.., flipkart is very friendly, they would have accepted to return my money)

I saw some reviews which stated about signal drop and SIM problem, I was great fan of Nokia (until E72) and believed that only Nokia has voice clarity. Not any more. Nokia models are worst than local brands like micromax etc.

I never buy another Nokia phone. Nokia is dead. Go far some Samsung models...

After my Nokia XPress Music stopped working (seawater had entered the system at the beach). I decided to go in for a simple, no frills Nokia C1-01.. This was my 3rd Nokia phone and my expectation was it would be a strong phone, with lesser OS/Firmware issues than Nokia XPress!

Less than a year after buying the phone I have started experiencing these problems:
1. Many messages have turned blank! So text is visible, and when I try to delete them the phone restarts.
2. After trying a soft-reset with no success I am now struggling to backup all the contacts before trying the hard reset that might fix the problem

My sincere advice to everyone is to first Google for known issues with the phone as just reading positive reviews won't help.

I think this is the cheapest mobile with a lot of good features in it. As usual flipkart delivery was fast and great without any damage to mobile.

Some of the pros of this mobile :

light weight
good battery backup
good music through headphone
FM Recording

Cons:
when u navigate through any applications or gallery it will be fast but when u browse the memory card content it will respond slowly .

overall my experience is good with this mobile.

the best thing in all nokia mobiles is Durability . . . U can trust only in nokia.

Bought this phone from Flipkart. Delivered with nice packaging and delivered the next day. Awesome service from Flipkart.
Phone is really nice.

Pros and Cons:
+ Under 2k it's packed with lot of features.
+ I could even use Nimbuzz on it to chat with friends.
+ MP3, FM
+ Long battery life (Runs for almost 4 days on single charge with medium usage)
+ Nice backup phone to have
- Earphones are not so good but for the price point its ok

i have bought this mobile one month back i am compltly satisfy good voice quality and have all basic features and i must say its ruff and tuff mobile nice shape and aspecially key pad is so soft ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

For the price, you can't expect good features but this phone cannot even perform some of the basics that most basic mobile phones like Nokia 2690 can:
1. Is not compatible with themes available online
2. You can't create new message folder
3. You can't mark messages for delete
4. Media player is not good at all: no equalizer, no playlist view, poor sound
5. Though the device claims WEB support, i can't access internet at all.

Worst phone i have ever used!
