THE SEXIEST PIECE OF HARDWARE EVER BUILT!!!

There are a lot of expert reviews about this phone already in the internet. So,
instead of just re-stating the same, I thought of covering few areas that are
practically essential.

WP7.5: Can't be upgraded to WP8. (WP7.5, when introduced, was not compatible
with HD Screens, Multi-core processors and expandable SD card slots. These '-'ves
were corrected in WP8) But to tell u guys, these are no big deals. 13.8 gigs of
internal storage seems ok, and the 800x480 (252 ppi) resolution for a 3.7 inch
display looks fine, and the OS is stunningly fluid without dual core processors. And

internal storage seems ok, and the 800x480 (252 ppi) resolution for a 3.7 inch
display looks fine, and the OS is stunningly fluid without dual core processors. And
with the update to WP7.8 in the near future, this thing should look more or less
similar to the other WP8 devices.

HARDWARE: 1.4 GHz single core processors. 512 MB RAM. Looks similar to a N9.
But with only a few N9s around, this thing is really fresh to the market. The
Unibody design is hot. The Corning Gorilla Glass is super-durable. Long story
short, my title says it all!!!!

CAMERA: No front facing camera. 8 MP rear -> Not the best of smartphone
cameras, (especially with something like "The PureView" camera on the Lumia 920
in the market) But it does a decent job in taking some good photos.

APPS: WP Marketplace has only limited apps (4-7 times lesser than Android & ios)
(But practically speaking, 100000 apps is still a huge number) and some of the
apps are available only for a premium cost (this is the cost we hav to pay for
quality), unlike Android where u get most of them free. But, since the Marketplace
is not crowded, each & every app is quality tested. So no worries about bugs &
glitches.

ZUNE: To transfer files between your PC and the Lumia 800 you need to install a
software of around 80 MB on your PC, named "Zune". It can be found on
Microsoft/Nokia's sites. It is kind of annoying to not have the USB mass storage
mode. But, hey, Zune isn't that bad as some reviewers have been complaining.

BATTERY: 1450 mAH battery - not the biggest interms of capacity. But believe me
guys, it stayed alive for 2.5 days (with moderate usage). And I am pretty sure, It'll
easily get u past 1-1.5 days with heavy usage.
Android phones will get smoked here by the Lumia definitely because I've seen
Android phones last only to a maximum of 6-8 hours on heavy usage with a
similar battery capacity.

OTHERS: We require a micro-sim card for this phone and the micro-USB ports are
placed under a flip-open type lid which is very feeble. So be really careful with it
guys. Other wise, this phone is a monster. The best in its category in-terms of
design, durability and fluid working...

MY OPINION: 15-20K, Looking for a smartphone that is durable (not like the cheap
plasticky mobiles manufactured by other companies), that works smooth (not like
the crappy/buggy android), that makes you feel proud when you have one in your
hands, then it must be the NOKIA LUMIA 800.

So, that's the end of a very-long review. Wish it would be useful to atleast
someone... THANK YOU... AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR IDEA OF BUYING A NEW
SMARTPHONE...

Eyegasm.....Wild and Sexy Lumia!

It all started back in Dec 2011 when I first saw this dame of phones! I was blown away, not by OS, performance but by the sheer presence.
I wondered what the name could mean, further digout, it was revealed to me that it meant snow (Prostitute in spanish! lol).
No wonder both are my obsessions.

Cut to July 2012, I bought one for myself and believe me its amongst the best decisions I've made in my otherwise dreary life!

I wondered what the name could mean, further digout, it was revealed to me that it meant snow (Prostitute in spanish! lol).
No wonder both are my obsessions.

Cut to July 2012, I bought one for myself and believe me its amongst the best decisions I've made in my otherwise dreary life!

First of all, to all the Apple/Android fanboys who have been left intimidated by the shockingly fast fluidity and performance of a WP 7.5 and to those who believe its 'outdated' just because it won't receive any WP8 updates!

Tell me a small thing how many times have you cared to update even the genuine windows on your system. I am sure most of them have got the auto-updater blocked on their systems and don't even care for what they can get with new updates/fixes or most of them can't even get what I am saying. They just want to rant and rant... endlessly!

Secondly, WP8 isn't completely going to wipe out WP 7.5 user base. Imagine it like this, Nokia has sold close to 5M lumia 800's, they aren't going to orphan their user base for 5M users. Applications will STILL be backward compatible and WP7.8 update will almost be identical to what Lumia 920 will be equipped with barring the physical features that differ from Lumia 800 (NFC, wireless charging etc).

So, for god's sake stop cribbing like a crybaby and learn to enjoy and cherish whatever you have got.

Now coming back to my quick bits on this phone:

PROS:
Superb OS fluidity and performance. I can still play like 4 games in one go and still manage to surf the internet without any noticable lag or hang ups. Android or iOS would've been certainly dead/hanged/rebooted by all means (Personal experience, Samsung galaxy S2 used to be dead by the time I was multitasking with it). SHOCKINGLY FAST!

APPS: Another bit to those who think Windows app market lacks. Yeah I do agree it lacks on useless applications which have led to crowded markets of Android without any stringent checks on the quality of the applications. Apple iOS market is good enough but in no way its holier-than-thou than Windows market which is still naive and catching up amazingly well.

Battery Life: If you use it like the toilet paper, when needed, it will certainly last you 2 days and couple of hours extra.
Use it heavily, like play games, surf, 3G video streams it will still be you by the time you hit the couch! Quite satisfied.

Looks: There isn't a single person whom I've met and shown my proud obsession...er...possession and he hasn't praised it with his tonsils out! Looks, smoothness, apperance, the razor sharp curves...there is no phone in world currently that is even 100kms close to looks of Lumia 800. Attention is guaranteed when you're holding it in your hands.

Yeah I would've loved if Nokia could have made the WP system a bit more opened in terms of file sharing but then, the concept of Nokia music would've been defied heavily ;).

Go ahead, buy it. Its once in a lifetime thing..you don't always get to have the beauty with brains that too alongside with you in bed! ;)

Too Good...!!!

Mango Beats apple guys. This is a must have one. May be Samsung Omnia W might have a better screen and cost. The choice is your's. But Microsoft has done an awsome Job here. Especially after the update which fixes Twitter and FaceBook. The most userfriendly i've ever seen. Android 2.3 looks cheap in from of Mango(Windows Mobile7.5).

Pure pleasure

I bought Lumia 800 through flipkart and it was a speedy delivery. 2 days. That was fast.

Initially I was an Andriod fan. Although I never owned one, I have used sets like Wildfire S, Galaxy S, XPeria Arc etc owned by friends. I also had plans to buy a Galaxy S.

Then I came across HTC Mozart and I was impressed with WP 7.5. I have since then kept tab on all the new releases.

I have tried my hands at Dell Venue Pro, Omnia W and HTC Mozart (Mango updated) before rounding upon Lumia 800 as my phone. And this one's a beauty.

I have tried my hands at Dell Venue Pro, Omnia W and HTC Mozart (Mango updated) before rounding upon Lumia 800 as my phone. And this one's a beauty.

Build quality & Design: The first thing that strikes about the 800 is its design and build quality. The size is not too big that it'll irritate your hands. I don't feel like I'm holding a tablet in hand while on a call. The build quality is simply superb and the weight of the phone gives a confidence that this phone is not just about plastics.

The phone looks striking and is a piece of art (kudos to Nokia). The absence of buttons on the front makes it more attractive (especially 800 black). The phone does steal a lot of attention from other android owners (Ha Ha Ha!).

Omnia W on the other hand is very tacky and plasticky. It is not beautiful, but is practical though.

OS: WP 7.5's tile interface is beautiful. It needs some getting used to though. But once you get to know the phone, it is all fun. I keep discovering something new everyday. The hardware is more than enough to run the OS and the OS is silky smooth to run. I never faced any problems in the last two weeks with performance.

The OS in itself is the major attraction here. With People app's facebook integration, life is much more smooth. Best part about Live Tiles is that you don't need to always launch an app. Most things you need are displayed and updated on your home screen tiles.

Battery: The handset I recieved was the updated version with the battery life bug fixed. The battery life is decent considering the usage, and considering that it is a smartphone. I get around 18 hours of time between two charges with usage including 3 hours of music, continous data connectivity (Mail & People), an hour of browsing, a few calls and day full of texting. This I believe is decent. I charge my phone in office and recharge it only the next day before I leave home again.

Apps: Omnia W has more preloaded apps and certain features that are better than Nokia. Nokia doesn't offer too many apps. The Marketplace is sufficient enough to serve one's daily needs (Unless you're a person who'd download 100 apps everyday just to try them out. If you are one, you still have 50000 apps).

Specs: On paper, Omnia W and HTC Radar look better considering the specifications as compared to Lumia 800. Although Omnia W sports a Super AMOLED, the Gorilla Glass AMOLED of 800 gives a pleasurable viewing and touch experience which I found to be better than iPhone or Galaxy SII. The OS responds to touch just as much required. Nothing more nothing less.

800 misses out on a front camera. This although is a negative compared to similar priced smartphones, I don't miss the front camera much. Practically. I've hardly seen people video-chatting on phone as most times we use either our comps for the same. Video chatting in a laptop is anyday better.

Camera: The 8MP Carl Zeiss is one of the best phone cameras I have seen. Although it gives dots in lesser light conditions, it is more than enough for normal photos. I'd again prefer using a D-SLR if I want the best photos.

Music: Nokia's earphones are good. They respond well to all frequencies. However, it'd have been great had they given in-ear buds rather than the normal earphones.

Overall, this is a fabulous no-nonsense phone which you'll enjoy using. You can happily flaunt it (have a good defense against front camera feature though :D).

If you think it is over-priced, wait for some time, the price will surely go down :P

A Fantastic Phone

This is a fantastic phone and is highly recommended. A fresh OS and much need change from Android and iOS.

And please dont be misguided by reviewers and analysis based on only the specifications. (e.g single core processor, 512 MB RAM etc.)If only compared at a hardware level, new android devices in this price range would score better.

I suggest you to have a hands on experience of this phone and I bet you will love it. I read a review yesterday which compared the new nexus with lumia and nexus scored against the lumia on almost all fronts, but in the verdict the reviwer says that even th...

I read a review yesterday which compared the new nexus with lumia and nexus scored against the lumia on almost all fronts, but in the verdict the reviwer says that even though that is the case, the whole experience that lumia gives makes him recommened Nokia Lumia over the Nexus. As a Lumia owner, I can understand what he means.

And just for the record, I dont work for MS or Nokia. I just bought the Lumia last week and am loving the phone. RECOMMENDED.
