After posting my disgust on Twitter and Fb, flipkart generously refunded the discrepancy amount within 24hrs in my bank account. Kudos to their customer service team. Happy customer again.
This isn't a product review or thoughts, I haven't received the device yet. I ordered L925 yesterday at 4 am.(yes awkward time to order an high-end phone, because of my work time). The same afternoon I was surprised to see the price to down by 1000Rs with few free items, which was unfair and I was like WTH?
Now today, within 24 hours the price is now reduced to 2500INR!!!!. This is unfair practice at its phenomenal best, I feel cheated now Flipkart, never expected this from you guys. I have e-mailed them regarding this. A disgruntled customer.
One of the best windows phone products at the moment before GDR3 Devices hit the market. On time Delivery so no complaints there.
What You'll Love:
*HD AMOLED Screen. Amazing Visibility even when brightness is set to low and it looks gorgeous cause of the absolute Blacks. (Picked it up over the 920 due to this)
*Great PPI(Youre not going to notice the minute difference between HD and Full HD on a screen of only 4.5 Inches.
*Build quality, Premium feel, Thinness and Light weight.
*External Speaker and sound quality ( Yeah the speaker is at the back but its not an issue at all)
*Camera (Now comes with the revamped "Nokia Camera" app which merges Pro Cam and Smart Cam.
*Comes with "Nokia Music" app, Free downloads for 1 year and unlimited "Mix Radio" streaming for the lifetime of the handset.
*Here Navigation suite for truly offline voice navigation for walk and driving (Trust me you don't wanna be stuck with Google maps or Apple maps when you are lost and don't have a data plan or have no signal)
*Nokia Glance Screen and Glance Backgrounds
*SkyDrive. Set it up properly on your computer and you'll have a seamless experience.
*Free Office Apps including Word, Excel and One Note.
*Phone will not lag and restart and die on you.
Some Myths Clarified:
*Instagram, Vine, [[Update: Official apps now available]] Facebook messenger (built in) and YouTube are all available. They currently have amazing Third Party apps (6tag, 6sec, MetroTube) with Official versions coming with the launch of GDR3 Devices.
*Windows Phones don't lag or have viruses. Just cause they have lower specs than Android does not make it slower.
*Not all the apps are paid, even if the one you want is paid it probably has a trial version which is the full version but with adverts. There are also a lot of free apps.
*Windows Phone 8 has Bluetooth and can send songs.
*There are many browsers available apart from I.E (Maxthon, UC Browser, Surf Cube, Surfy, Nokia Xpress Browser to name a few)
*WP8 supports USB drag and drop. You don't need a companion app such as Zune.
*Lock Screen Rotation Lock Available with the GDR3 Update
*Has a Radio
*Gmail is available.
What You Won't Like:
*WP8 Still doesn't have as many games as iOS and Android. However loads have been announced including Temple Run 2, Asphalt 8: Airborne etc. [[update: Asphalt 8 now available]]
*Only 16 GB non-expandable memory ( I don't have an issue with 5GB still remaining but some people might)
*Creating playlists is not exactly intuitive but the music app will definitely be updated.
*No Notification center which is easily rectified by tile notifications. This way you don't get annoyed by stupid app notifications asking you to open the game and play or that there is a discount available on coin purchases.
What You Get:
*A premium designed phone with amazing Hardware and Design (People are going to drool at this beauty)
*A Fluid experience Out of the box with WP8. (Unlike Android which lags after a few weeks ( I own 2 android devices A Galaxy note 10.1 and an Xperia S) You don't need Quad-cores or Octa-Cores for the OS to run smooth even after a year of usage it will still be smooth.
*Great navigation, Music and Social experience.
*Good Battery life.
*Up-gradable to Windows Phone 8.1 (Blue)
*Nokia's own software optimization and apps.
What You WON'T Get:
*A notification center (Not right now at least until WP 8.1)
*Notification Light (Not needed as we will get notifications on the glance screen)
*Viruses (That's a good thing, WP8 and Windows Desktop are not the same)
*No SD card Slot.
*No USB OTG or HDMI
This is one of the device i am using along with my iphone and ipad but i like the device more than Iphone but the lack of core apps disappoints me but recently i am getting every day new required apps windows phone store is growing in fast pace. I hope before year ending they will push remaining core apps to store.
Pros: 4g, long battery life, music, volume level, touch screen, easy to use, great camera, processor, WiFi, memory, durable, GPS, fun games, large screen, great web browsing, great for texting, useful apps, speakerphone, ui, phone design, office tools
The 925 is a bit more expensive because of the design and the 6th lens compared to 5 in the 920 which gives a better camera output. it has a led screen now as compared to the 920 which gives sharper and brighter colors..16gb storage is a con but then u have skydrive integration and can upload all ur images whenever connected to wi-fi or even over ur data plan..applications like data sense, pro cam (which is exceptional for how much ive used it on the 920) and smart cam options give it an unbeatable camera as well as the HERE suite of apps are great for navigation. ppl concerned abt apps and games..well for the ones who like to compare numbers like 900000 on ios to 150000 on wp..well half of em are irrelevant and ud get all major apps..or third party solutions for apps like instagram and google apps (coz of the google-microsoft feud) with apps like instance, oggl, the upcoming 6tag for instagram and metrogram like apps for youtube. for gamers the xbox collection wont really disappoint with halo, dark knight, mass effect like games and just yesterday gameloft confirmed the release of 15 more games including the likes of asphalt 8 and minion rush.
windows has an excellent social networking integration, easy mail features, direct fb chat integration so this makes for a great daily use.
ppl mentioning cons like no lockscreen shortcuts are obviously android users and there has to be a difference..u have to live in one platform and rather than expecting all 3 in one.anyway the marketplace is picking up pace and we shall have a lot of coveted apps by the end of the year...not tht i feel the need right now but still.
all in all the 925 is a decent upgrade over the 920 in matters of looks and build and even the camera, tho the 16gb memory is a bummer. but id wait for the price to drop and definitely look forward to this one.
this is from all ive used and my windows phone experience on the lumia 920 and samsung omnia w wp7.8 and the tons of time i spend reading WP news.
hope this helps
Best thing about this phone is its DESIGN and CAMERA.They ve upgraded the camera as it was in 920 with 5 lens opticals but in 925 you will get 6 lens opticals to give you more sharp, crisp images.and in the video format, the image satblizer feature have no match it beat iphone 5.but 920 gives you more batter colour on image which looks great on screen. But for camera point of view nokia is great.
Great Nokia APPS: Nokia has a great own apps like nokia map,City lens, nokia music store and out of the box MS Office suite.
Small Screen Size: All the high end smart phone of branded companies either its S4,HTC butterfly,LG Optimus G,Xperia Z all offers you big 5 inch screen which gives you better experience for multitasking at this price tag. 4.5 inch screen is small.
No Memory Expansion Option : phone comes with 16gb memory with 1 gb ram and 7gb free cloud storage.at this price we except 2gb ram and expendable memory or atleast 32 gb, so will pinch for media lovers.
Ecosystem (app store) Not Great: After nearly a year of this os still lacking major apps or updates of those apps,Like instagram has no native app and flickr hasnt updated since wp7.
Non Removable Battery: Battery lose potency over time, resulting in to returning to the manufacturer for repair. I'd rater pay out for a new battery over the inconvenience of sending the device away every time.Inability for a user to swap their own battery is bad.
No Built in wireless charging-removed since 920.
So nokia has great WP os but they ve main focus on camera rather screen size and apps store.so with this extra 3000-4000 not worth at that time when 920 also get amber update.
