Noonday Changes: A Story Of Self-conflict And Possibilities, Love And Growth

Bicycle racing is often harsh and unyielding, sparing in its rewards, making it the perfect backdrop to tell a story framed around normal people struggling to find themselves as they reach for and define their dreams. The protagonists of Noonday Changes, brothers Damion and Denis, grow up in Paradoxa, a place with far more farming machinery than racing bicycles. Seemingly unaware of the paradox, Damion, the elder, makes professional bicycle racing his dream, pursuing his ambition to become a Euro Pro. When his life tragically changes, so do his dreams. Racing professionally becomes deferred--not forgotten--and a way of atoning for the guilt he feels. Denis follows in the pedal strokes of his brother, whom he idolizes, and finds the road equally rough for very different reasons. He is torn between his desire to become an American professional and his intellectual goals. Denis finds these tandem mistresses at odds. Their war within him threatens to destroy the evolving self he is discovering.
