A historical mystery novel
This is a historical mystery novel set in the ancient university of Nalanda. Xuanzang's much documented visit to Nalanda forms the backdrop of the story. The story unfolds in a time of rapid change for the academia of Nalanda, brought about by the study of Astronomy, Mathematics and a rising undercurrent of Tantric Buddhism. The author, a professional astrophysicist, masterfully combines facts and fiction, historical and imaginary characters in a gripping tale.
The book was an amazing read. It reminded me of another favorite historical murder mystery, The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. If you like this genre, I'm sure you'll like this one.
A complete fit for the contents
Its an amazing read specially those interested in history and the grear treasures of India. The story unwinds the world's one of the ancient universities that is Nalanda and tries to re-invent and resurrect the glorious past. Its a good read
