Numerical Methods In Engineering & Science : With Programs In FORTRAN 77, C & C++ provides a clear and precise exposition of modern numerical techniques. It is designed as a suitable textbook for engineering and science students upto the postgraduate level. Each method is illustrated by a number of solved examples followed by properly graded problems, some of which have been selected from various university and professional examination papers. Beginning with an introduction to approximations and errors, direct and iteration methods of solving algebraic and transcendental equations and simultaneous linear equations have been explained. Then different methods of finding the inverse and Eigen-values of a matrix and fitting curves to given data have been discussed. Various interpolation formulae including spline interpolation, numerical differentiation and integration techniques have been described. Thereafter numerical solutions of ordinary and partial differential equations have been explained. As programming is becoming more and more popular, numerical techniques using FORTRAN-77, C and C++ have been explained in the last three chapters.
