Inimitable style, impeccable script, ingenious plot

Why did I purchase this novelette?
Well, the title of the book is catchy and the description walks me through what I could expect. But more importantly, the theme is contemporary and addresses a pressing problem that the society is going through.

So what do I feel are the strong points of this novelette?
Below, I attempt to enumerate the features of this novelette that I consider special:
    * Exceptional story line.
    * Fabulous articulation skills. "Is English your mother tongue, Mr. Sudarsa...

Great first book by a budding author!!!

First let me answer why I bought the book. The reason is very simple - it is written by a very close friend of mine from the college days.

Now let me wear the critic's hat for the rest of the review.

The book is very well-written in a lucid language and has the signs of solid research behind it. Weaving of contemporary events like IPL, rave parties etc. into the storyline gives a real life touch to it. The concept of subsequent chapters having the same word phrases in the last and first sen...

Good flow, quick read, contemporary theme

Flow - The book maintains a smooth flow till the end. The technique of hooking one chapter to the next by starting a chapter with the same set of words that ended the previous one is good and looks natural.

Content and Context - The underlying theme of receding ethics and intolerance for other medical systems is definitely laudable. There are some incidents and characters who find a parallel in the real world. On the whole, the theme and the plot look credible.

    Characters - A non-entity as ...

    Excellent

Enjoyed reading the adventures of Ramanujam and Anantha. I did not know anything about the Oath (of Hyppocrates) before and the author subtly mentions about it hanging... I was intrigued by the debate on alternate medicine... I wish we had a female companion or character in the book and some romance. Pyare was a difficult word to pronounce and but resemblance is pretty obvious.

Now I am eagerly awaiting his next one on IT.

Its an awesomeeeee book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great work !!!!!!!!!!!!

The Oath Of The Hippocrates, by S.Sudarsan, is a catchy story which is set upon a various locations in the country. The novel best describes about the current political condition of the country. The protagonist Ramanujam, a brilliant and a witty boy hailing from a village of Tamilnadu, at the risk rustication skips his final exams to explore the outer world and learn more about the ethics in the world's most noble profession. The Dean of the college Dr.Prakash Yadav, who plays the villain, al...

    Good first attempt

The book is easy on the eyes, with large fonts and only 162 pages. So managed to finish this in one sitting.

It is a good first attempt. The author has a story to tell and does it well. The writing style is good, often replacing well-known phrases and similes with modern versions. The device of making the last and first lines of each chapter same/similar is also good and helps maintain a sense of timeframe with the two main characters. My favourite character for some reason was Ananta who co...
