The Obligation

A life and death debt owed to Lee. J. Sheldonas former commanding officer of a secret Army intelligence unit operating in 1989 in Iraq requires Sheldon to leave his New Jersey home and the law firm he heads to go to Washington, D.C., where he is plunged into the highest political intrigue imaginable: murder, espionage and sexual encounters. Dictated by his moral debt requiring decisions beyond his control, he is required to head the defense team designated to defend the Vice President of the United States from charges of perjury before the Senate Oversight Committee, thus possibly destroying his assured nomination for President, and an almost shoe-in election. Sheldonas response is to uncover a diabolical plot led by the highest officials in the government to usurp power not designated to them. Will Sheldon successfully unmask the conspirators and prevent the diabolical plot from succeeding? With opposition from the highest authorities of the country, will Sheldon successfully restore the Constitution to its rightful place as the paramount law of the land?
