  • Description

Ohm: A Resistance to Faith, by Prakash Sharma, is a book that delves into the nuances of humanism.

    Summary of the Book

He transformed from being Om to being Ohm – thinking of himself as a ‘unit’ of resistance. But, is it a resistance against ignorance? This book depicts how Ohm begins learning ancient Indian scriptures and searches for purpose of life. He gradually starts understanding the messages of the scriptures, but takes their essence from a literary point of view, rather than resorting to the idea of the almighty. This perspective takes him places, especially in grave situations, making him go through intriguing experiences.

    About Prakash Sharma

    Very warm

I am pursuing MBA from Delhi, but I am a native of Pakistan.
I often meet very warm and hospitable people here in India.
This book might take the people to people connect to an entirely diff level.

I am sharing it across to my friends in India and Pak both.

The forums like aman ki asha and indo-pak freindship groups on Facebook are speaking in high voice about this book, and I wasn't sure until now that this book is worth it.

Very good value of research, good narration and a very nice sto...

    Excellent!

I attended a session where this book was talked about. I liked the design of the cover. Frankly speaking the noise and speakers did not allow me to understand what was the topic.

When I got the book and started reading it, page by page, I could relate and feel the agony and then pleasure which Ohm must be cultivating inside for long, very long.

Loved the lady love part, very short though. I don't want to be the spoiler. but very matured interaction and fun part.

The last few chapters had s...

I am liking this like, really like like like!

    Interesting narration, little different.
    Moulting of wings was touchy.

College life and incidents have been covered in many Indian novels, but this had that spark which I have seen very less. Seeing the life of Ohm through the authors eye was tough to feel but easy to think.

Bookmarked my kindle copy and am talking about it, like here and there, you know pretty impressed :) :)

This might be a new style which readers would start expecting soon, which would be bold and truthful.

    Phosphorous...

    Real but still a fiction

We often discuss about the events and scenarios in our sat. parties.
The book was recommended to me by my 2IC.

Sincerely documented things which an army kid would face, consider the broad minded fella.

Pretty good description of unit library, ha ha ha

    Good job and great work

    The end was dissappointing

    I don't read novels much.

The narration was pretty strong, while the fun in imagining characters and their reactions was kept tight all along.
Pretty innovative way of representing this genre.

I am a romcom fan so was expecting a different end, but readers might enjoy the central character and his chum Surya.

Good style of questioning and to the right people, infeerence varied and the character matured up to live up to expectations.

    Moscow part was great

    Was a very personal experience

I have had bad days, faced the worst and gotten better out of that muddy situation of bullying. Though a small portion of the book talked about it, but that was very personal to me.

The plot was initially sturdy, then it became pretty marshy and finally smooth liquid. Amazing finish I would say. There was a heavy scope of the author slipping from the edge, he managed nicely.

I believe in God and nothing can take that away from me, even this nicely articulated book. Having said that, I might...

One of the best storylines, with matured fluctuations

Firstly, I was not, at all, expecting a fiction in this style from an Indian author.

Now that we are having such writers, we should call them more for interaction with the youth.

Story is matured enough to hold midway, if not in initial chapters.
For regular readers this might be a surprise.
For liberal and free minded this might be a script worth keeping in shelves

The drama in Pakistan was well thought and the last chapters very profound and meaningful.

    Read it twice

    Few portions were very touching!
I got the book from my friend and then after reading half, I purchased from flipkart.
It had few serious notes on religion and how we blindly follow the regulations under the cover of dogmas.
The upbringing of ohm is similar to what many kids get in our country, however it's good that ohm gets up and opens his eyes to what was levied on him

Some really good references and shloks and the finish was immaculate...wonderful!!!

    Humour and Sensitive

When I started reading the book, it felt like a very serious , religion obsessed book.
After a chapter or so i realized the core of the character hitting himself.
difficult shade produced by the writer.

Then came the fun and humour part which had sattire, much appreciated
I loved the scene where the gorkha freind of ohm's father comes in...very nice

the book finishes on a very serious, respectable and matured note. must read!

    Brilliant theme and good narration

My friends are taking this book more as an awakening or some serious kinna stuff, well, I was ok with that part as I am not very much into self-conscious mode :)
The part I loved and many of my colleagues also connected well was the diverse and grey shades which the three buddies had.
How Ohm took them together to a starnge location and that too for a suspense reason, was amazing.
college struggle to tei up groups was also very nice and fun
    very interesting read
