Book Summary of On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

The master storyteller takes readers into his mind in this revealing blend of memoir and a practical view of the writer's craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. With advice grounded in his vivid memories of childhood through his emergence as a writer, up through his near-fatal accident in 1999, King relates the daily process of practiced creativity that has guided him.

"Long live the King" hailed "Entertainment Weekly" upon the publication of Stephen King's "On Writing." Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer's craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King's advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported near-fatal accident in 1999 -- and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery. Brilliantly structured, friendly and inspiring, "On Writing" will empower and entertain everyone who reads it -- fans, writers, and anyone who loves a great story well told.

Brilliant book

I don’t know what makes me say so with conviction but I am a writer for last 2 years. This just means that I am determined to pursue writing as a profession, not as a hobby, but as a profession.
I am really glad that I picked up this book in one of that feat of depression which convinced me that I cannot write.
This is not a “how to” book. This is not some manual with exercises on Writing. It’s simply the way a writer has lived and the way a writer should live.
Every single word is truthful.
Every line has come from a person who has made a fine living by pursuing his Art.
I very highly recommend this book to all the aspiring writers.
If you have read 1 book on writing this year, choose this book, if you have not read it so far.
It’s inspiring.

Great read

When you read this book, you feel King sitting beside you and chatting with you. First part include King's childhood in which excellent narration of King make you laugh many times. In next part he gives his journey as a writer and several very useful advices to new writers. Great book.
