ONE NIGHT AT THE CALL CENTRE (English) 1st Edition (Paperback) Price: Rs.150

Published in the year 2005, One Night @ The Call Center is a novel that revolves around the lives of six call center employees, and the phone call that brought about a dramatic change in their lives.

Summary Of The Book

One Night @ The Call Center is a book that covers the lives of six call center employees working for Connexions, a call center located in Gurgaon. In the beginning of the book, the readers are presented with a frame story describing a train journey, during which the author meets a girl who desires to tell him a story. However, there was one condition that he had to adhere to if he wanted to hear the story. This condition specified that he had to base his second book on the story.

The book talks about how the employees receive a phone call from God during their work timings at the call center. The characters in this novel include Radhika, Esha, Shyam, Priyanka, Varun, and Military Uncle. These six characters are deeply disturbed by the events taking place in their own lives, and choose to focus on their problems rather than trying to find a way out of them.

In this book, Bhagat throws light on the lives of the individuals in present day India, who are residing in the metro cities. The language utilized by the author is simple, and contains witty remarks on urban culture and relationships. The author makes use of words that are associated with that region in the country, thereby increasing the readability of this book.

One Night @ The Call Center was published in 2005 and received a favourable response. The book was adapted into a movie that was released in 2008, titled Hello, starring Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Amrita Arora, Gul Panag, and a host of other actors.

One night wasted reading this

My first book of Chetan Bhagat was "Revolution 2020". That book, may be, good for first time readers but I felt it's a naive novel with a ludicrous plot. Being optimistic, i gained the courage to give a try reading any of his other books. Upon my friends suggestion, in this regard, I bought this.

I finished this book in single night which, at the end, made me feel that the night was simply wasted. The meekly existing veil of inclination towards chetan bhagat's books too simply burned up to ashes after reading this book. No worthy content, no enticing plot and nothing. May be he...

I finished this book in single night which, at the end, made me feel that the night was simply wasted. The meekly existing veil of inclination towards chetan bhagat's books too simply burned up to ashes after reading this book. No worthy content, no enticing plot and nothing. May be he showcased the woes of call center people but its no way narrated genuine and placid. He tried adding some masala to the story but failed. He tried to include a fragment of philosophy by bringing God into context but it ended up like ridiculous.

Instead of wasting time on books like these, there are plethora of others in the world that really make literature, for reading which not even a life time is sufficient. Intelligently try to spend time on such books.

Good for those who don't know what call center is all about

I am pretty sure that the author Chetan Bhagat must never had visited any call center and the estimation he made about call center working is utter nonsense and far from the reality. The portrait of Most of his characters are not specific to call center and can be found in any walk of life. The Information / fact about call center ethics, Training culture etc. are not hard to imagine or found. He called an average American, as lame as an 10 years old Indian kid, but my questions to Indians is "Can they expect their 70 Years old Grandmother to rip off an computer CPU and then put it bac... really worthy of a trashcan!!

It is the only book that i have literally thrown into the trash can. For all the love and regard i have for books, that was an exceptionaly hard thing to do.But you know that feeling of contempt when you just have to let it out. That and some more lent quite some force to my throw.

The writing profession is getting a bad name if such stupidters are allowed to litter the literature landscape.

Mr Bhagat with his all that smiley face, that crew cut hair and the round spectatled nose might just as well give up on writing and do some IITing. If he cant do that at least he should spare the un...

You may be from an IIT (your certainly dont write like one) and you may have a funny face Mr Bhagat but pardon me... you write trash and trash is where it should belong.

One of the worst books ever written

Everything about this book is utter rubbish. If you like this book you either have a flair for ridiculously unrealistic drama or you've probably not read anything before. While that goes for any chetan bhagat book in general, this one is the worst of the lot! Beware...throw your money down the drain instead of purchasing this book!
