The ultimate test of all dental education is to see how
well it prepares the practitioners to serve the patient. An uderstanding of the basic sciences can be the differences between an
excellent clinician and one who can treat the patient only as a technician. In the tenth
edition of Orban's Oral Histology and Embryology, a group of scientists
and dentists, varyingly engaged in the basic science and clinical research, in
