Orpat 687 CL DX Iron

I bought this iron seeing as it was a cordless, and was not very costly. However, after using this, I feel that I will take a corded iron over this any day.

This iron isn't meant for heavy duty ironing. It loses heat very fast, and requires to be plugged into the holder to get warm again. And it doesn't heat up fast either -- I end up waiting for the iron to warm up in the middle of ironing a shirt, which is very frustrating. Maybe 1200W for a cordless iron is not enough.

I always keep it on the highest temperature setting, and even then it doesn't take out wrinkles cleanly for heavy fabrics.

Also, unlike my Morphy Richards, this doesn't have steam vent all over the sole-plate -- only on the border. Don't know if that reduces the steam effect or not.

I will use this only as a backup iron--It is Ok for the price.

For the people who are buying cordless iron first time and don't know the working of it, just don't get confused by comparing it with other cordless products. This iron contain a charging stand (rather than I would say "Heating Stand"). Just as a example with wired Iron, if we switch it ON, keep it for sometime for heating and when red incdicator goes down, we switch it off and start doing the iron on cloths. As because we have been switch it off, sooner it will become cold. and again you have to switch it ON and keep repeating the steps.

Now Come to this cordless iron, its charging stand (Actually heating stand) heat it up and when we remove it from the charger It starts cooling. So even if we iron a simple Shirt we need to charge it 4-5 times. And waiting time to heat up this iron is irritating. I mean to iron simple shirt if u have to wait 4-5 times( approx 7 Seconds everytime) it become irritating.

and Just beacuse after removing from charging stand, it starts loosing its heat.. there is no use of steam feature.. ( We can't use it fully).

SO DON'T BUY IT.

I had ordered the Orpat 687 CL DX Iron (Blue) after reading the comments put by users. I have to add, that the people who rated the iron as not being satisfied, were either not able to follow the instructions properly, or they were using the iron incorrectly. One must understand that a 1200W iron is meant for normal ironing needs. If one wants to iron big bed sheets etc, then one needs either a corded iron or a much stronger 1800W cable free iron. In that case, the price one would expect to pay be around Rs.3,000/-. I am thoroughly satisfied for I got for Rs.700/-.

I didn't buy this product from flipkart but from the market about 5 yrs ago. It is still going great and does everything neatly. It irons both lightweight stuff like cotton shirts and heavy duty things like Jeans equally well. Esp the steam function realy smoothens out any kinks in denim and canvas fabrics. However, I don't know about large and heavy bedcovers etc, as I don't iron them at home anyway.

I don't know why people say that it takes a long time to heat, it certainly does not. But it takes normal time, I guess. However the cordless feature more than compensates for the slightly more heating time than a corded iron. Your movements are not restricted by the length of the cord and thats a huge blessing and a time saver.

I was looking for product like this and in this regard 1st I visited Reliance Digital in Chennai but no cordless Steam Iron was available there. And the steam Iron which was available was not less than Rs.1000/- (It was more than 1000+). After that visited many shops but only disappointment because I didn't liked any and nothing was available less then Rs. 1200/- and that too design and metal was not that good.

This is the best deal which I did online that too I got door delivery within 5 days. And whatever I saw in internet I got the same which is better than all which I saw in Chennai.
