Orpat OEL 7007 CFL Emergency Lights

I have been using this same model (Orpat OEL 7007) for about 7 years now(even before flipkart came into existence!!).
Pros:
1. The battery is very reliable and gives good backup of about 5 hours as mentioned.
2. Construction is robust. Fell from heights of around 5 feet many times.
3. Haven't ever needed to replace the lead acid battery till now!! This is phenomenal considering the time span used.
4. There is a charging cable(1m long) below the lamp with a removable cover. When charging is done, the wire can be stuffed back into the body and sealed with the cap, thus avoiding tangles due to the cable.
Cons:
1. This thing is super heavy. Feels like a 5Kg dumb bell!!! So be careful while dropping it. Because it could land on your toes and smash them!!
2. Whenever it falls, the outer transparent casing comes out.But it can be put back easily.
3. Due to the falls the housing of the battery pack might loosen and start moving inside a bit. This, however, doesn't effect its functionality.
4. The two tubes are robust but they loose their brightness in about 2 years of usage. Blackness develops around the edges of the tubes, a tell tale sign that they need replacement.

When I bought this, it costed me 750 bucks. That was 7 years ago.
After 7 years of use (and some pretty heavy falls), my lamp needs replacing. The lamp recently stopped working after a pretty huge fall(all the parts simply came apart!! hehehe!!--I am clumsy).
I have already ordered its next version Orpat OEL 7007 DX ( available in flipkart for 1050 bucks). Hopefully it will serve me another decade!! Lol!

I find that all emergency light products in India are below average. I purchased BPL L650 CFL Emergency Light and find that it lasts for only 1hr & 15 min (Single Tube) and 45 min (Double Tube). Horribly below than what is printed on the BPL product (10hr - Single Tube/ 7hrs - double tube)

Now 7007 claims to offer the following Operating Time.
Operating Time - Single Tube 7 hrs
Operating Time - Double Tube 5 rs

Can the proud owners pls charge the lamp for 24hrs and find out how long does that lamp last in (Single Tube & Double Tube) mode?

Note: Feed-up with these kind of products from Indian Company, I decided to buy emergency lamp from US through friends.This model is same as SANYO sold in US.

The Orpat OEL 7007 Emergency Light is my first online purchase and it came out to be a good product. The brightness is satisfactory and the design is simple and good looking. Its been about 10 days since I bought it and has been functioning good. The reflector behind the tubes reflects the light and creates more brightness.Overall its a good product to invest on.

This is reliable and easy to use. Giving good battery back up.
I took this in July 2012 and was delivered with good packing with out any damages.
I started use the same from the first day. Because of the continuous power cut in AP, this light is very much useful for me.

Really satisfied with the performance.

This Indian light has all the features that an emergency lght should have.

It is wall mountable.
It turns on automatically on powercut.
It has charging indicator.
It is easy to carry outdoor, cable is absorbed inside.
