An Outsider Everywhere: Revelations by an Insider is an autobiography by civil servant, M. K. Kaw. Unlike most autobiographies by civil servants, this is not one of self-glorification. The author who shot to fame with his book titled Bereaucrazy is known to include humour and sarcasm in his writing.
Summary of the Book
This autobiography starts with a wacky essay that talks about why the author is called Kaw which means ‘crow’ in Kashmiri. He takes a look at his own life and tells us of how some of his younger colleagues would make fun of him because of the sobriquet given to him: Kawboy. Readers will find that the text has some half-remembered lines of a childhood poem that celebrates the exploits of Natha Singh, a Delhi truck driver. He has not stopped himself from revealing a naughty and funny limerick that he has composed at a party that was about his chief secretary’s non-performing member. Kaw also reveals the exploits of the of many politicians and bureaucrats that are seen from the perspective of a poet.
