Irfan Khan delivers a Paan-tastic performance. The rusty valleys of Chambal produce 'baaghis' and not 'Daakus'. Daakus exist in our parliament, says Paan Singh. Troubled by his relatives over farmland and denied justice and insulted by the cops, the national steeplechase champion and army man is forced to take up arms and form a gang to extract revenge. He cannot resume a normal life later and refuses to surrender to the police. He is a victim of circumstances.

The movie looks and feels authentic due to the rustic treatment and lingo. It is appreciable that the makers didn't fall for the pressure to add an item song, as is the norm nowadays. The film is still a commercial success!

There is palpable tension in some of the scenes and your heart goes out to Paan Singh, though he has shades of grey in his character. The pace slackens a bit in the second-half but some intense scenes and the climax make up for it. Deserves to be seen.

u r going to remember this movie for long. trust me. Especially those who are civil services aspirants, its a must watch for them. Irfan Khan has proved that he can make the audience seated for 2 and half hours on his own. There are no songs (thankfully), nor any super heroes, but there are for sure ACTORS. Leave the other actors only Irfan Khan is enough for the movie. Some particular scenes are great, especially the one where irfan makes an inspector apologise to his uniform.

An athlete turning into a rebel is itself an astounding fact. Paan SinghTomar (Irrfan) an army soldier plunges into the sports while in the army. He runs and leaves everyone spellbound by his endurance. On insistence of his coach, he trains hard for the steeplechase category. After he strikes gold there is no looking back. He keeps the foot moving till his hair turn white.
Circumstances make him leave the army and return back to his village. From an athlete he now transforms into a rebel Ironically, Paan Singh, who once ran for glory now runs for his life. What follows is a moving tale in the life of Paan Singh Tomar who battles to survive.
IRRFAN makes the screen come alive. He portrays the character to perfection. He is fluent when it comes to different shades of the character. Director Tigmanshu Dhulia deserves accolades for making such a film. Real locations astute castings complement the film well.
